thanks for posting that useful link fortyfoot. I really like Nerja and have added it to my favourites in case I go again.
If you can get there for the begining of the fair it is well worth it.

It's about a 5 minute walk from Burriana beach and approx 15 minute walk to the town centre. It's a quieter residential area that's handy for the town centre

The main hill in that area is the one down to Burriana beach but you don't need to go near that to get into town centre. Fairly flat to town centre, it's certainly nearer to town centre than the last 2 areas you looked at.

great:D thats sort of what i thought!! dont do buses though (too much hassle with wheelchair....)on the map ive seen it looks like a maze of streets so may take a couple nights to get right route!!!! how long would it take to get to the balcon place.. the villa ive seen doesnt have as much garden as the others but will this be because its nearer the centre....will be there in four weeks:j  .

It would take 15-20 minutes to get to the Balcon de Europa, it is lovely, great views, it's busy in the evenings with mime artists, dancers now and then, lots of artists doing portraits. Bars and restaurants on the Balcon tend to be more expensive, you are paying for the location! A couple of streets away you will find it quite a bit cheaper. It is really easy to find your way around Nerja, after a day or two you will be fine.

There are a number of free magazines that are published each month that have maps, lists of restaurants and useful information, they are normally found outside estate agents and a few other places. Sol talk and Market Place are a couple of them. They both also have web sites so you might find some useful info

There are lots of nice restaurants in Nerja, I have been going for the last 4 years and still haven't eaten in half of them!

Sorry have never hired a car from Malaga airport, we use the local buses and trains. There are a few threads on car hire in Costa del Sol, if you do a search you should find them. Can help with restaurant recommendations if thats of use
