I often go to Nerja in October, occasinally had some rain but generally fine. Over the last few years they have had more unusual weather conditions as we have over here. It would not put me off. I have been there in January and sun bathed round the pool from 11am to 3pm.

The last time I went in October was 2007 and it was great, the local fair was on, well worth a visit. Fantastic fireworks.

I have never been with kids, however there is a good beach close to you - Burriana and also a quieter beach at Maro. At the far end of Burriana beach there is a cafe where the chap there cooks on open wood fire. He discovered the Caves just above Maro when he was young.

Lots of narrow streets but generally quiet, should be OK for wheelchairs on certain ones. You will buid up your leg muscles pusing it up the hills. The Feria is down in the publicity information as being the 8-12 of October this year. I quite often went into the Hotel Monica in an evening for the entertainment.

There is a little English sweets and paper shop near the Balcon, just down a narrow road. A friend of mine called Ann works there, if you call in and she is there, tell her that I am looking forward to seeing her later in the month!

The buses are frequent and cheap, taxis, check the fair before you get in.

will the taxis take 5 people, plenty of Mercs, some estates

do places have entertainment on at night. Not many, as I said, I use the Monica

if it does rain  how long will it last  . couldnt bear it if kids couldnt swim in the pool. Your guess is as good as mine, my kids used the pool in the rain some times.

  • I can recommend the Benalmadena Palace nr Malaga if you have kids. We went with ours and although theres not a kids club as such, Antonio and the others kept ours busy alot of the time. the pools great and its close to the beach. We didn't eat in the hotel but the main stretch is only a couple of minutes walk away and there are over 50 restaurants to choose from. We booked through Alpharooms.com and Easyjet and had a great time. Friends of ours have been going for years.

I was in Nerja last month, great place and I go at least once a year.

The prices have not really changed much in the last couple of years but as the Euro is very poor at the moment you don't get as much for your money as in previous years.

Normally in October the weather is pretty good, it always rains at some point when the feria is on. Wouldn't say it's the rainy season at all in October, my parents spend half the year in Nerja and like being there in October as the weather is good.

Burriana beach is down a very steep hill (called cardiac brae by a lot of the ex pats) it's ok on the way down but not quite so easy on the way back up. Really wouldn't say it's suitable for wheelchairs. Torrecilla beach is more accessible but is at the other end of town from Capistrano.

My daughter aged 8 loves it in Nerja, she is going back in October with my parents (her 2nd visit this year). She spends the afternoon in the pool, goes to the swingpark near my parent's apartment and loves the donkey sanctuary.

The English sweet shop fortyfoot is talking about is called Allsorts and is on a street called Carabeo just off Amirante Ferrandiz (post office street).
