I apologise in advance for what I know will be seen as some as a rude/blunt post, but I agree with Pooky.

If this were a one off once in a lifetime holiday I would understand, but you have been for 3 years RUNNING on what most people would consider a luxury holiday, each time staying for longer and longer, whilst allowing your parents to subsidise your basic expenses! That to me seems most unfair.

I don't understand why i'm being picked on here :(

My parents don't have a problem with it, so i don't understand why anyone else should

I think i've explained myself enough. I originally asked for help on how to pay for the holiday by 5th november. I was asked about my bills so i told th truth. I didn't HAVE to, but i did because i'd hears that the members of the OS board were kind and non-judgemental.

We have just returned from Paris and I have to agree with the other poster that this is a very long time to spend at Eurodisney especially in January -says she who got soaked to the knees in puddles in August!

The weather in France is not that different to here. Would you spend this amount of time at Alton Towers, Chessington etc in January.

You have the two parks and downtown Disney, so IMHO 5 days is plenty, especially bearing in mind that your children may be limited on rides as the height restrictions are quite tight.

It is not clear how you will budget for Christmas and the holiday spending money. Would it be possible to ask for euros for the children so they can get themselves a souvenir using Christmas money? Perhaps for yourselves also, especailly as you do not have the fallback of a credit card.

    But now the positives -

Here are the things to look forward to......

    Parades
    Night time parade and fireworks
    Meeting the characters
    Soaking up the atmosphere

The advantages of being on site are you can nip back and forwards to get changed if you do get sopping wet, the children get tired or you just fancy a chill out.

    Things to remember -

All on parks food and drinks are very expensive so try to get to a supermarket for some fruit and juice/drinks to carry

Souvenirs are also very expensive and children will always want a cuddly on first sight. Not easy I know but try to talk them into waiting till near the end of the holiday, you may be able to afford something bigger depending on how your spending budget has gone. Alternatively allow for this in the first day or two so that they have a cuddly for bed. It's one less piece of luggage for you to remember to take with you.

If DD would like to go on something with both parents and DS is too small ask about parent swap.

Remember to use fast pass if available

You can rent oversize buggies for the children - may be worth checking costs before you go as you will probably need this for DS at least.

I hope this helps in some way.

Good luck in meeting your target.

    All the best
    Gilly

oh, and as for the council tax, water rates etc... my parents pay them at the moment :o

as we've had a hard time financially over the past year or so - we kind of live with them, as in we bought a big house with them last year and split it into 2 semis. we live in one, they live in the other. we were supposed to split the bills down the middle but they've taken over everything except the mortgage (only we have a mortgage, as they paid cash for their 'half') :o

we have our own phone and pay for that, we pay the insurance etc, but the council tax, tv licence, water rates, electricity etc they pay for :o

sorry if this sounds harsh but I'd be ashamed to let my parents pay my bills while I took off on a holiday I couldn't really afford to Disneyland,

not that I think you should live in poverty with no hols when family are willing to help out, but a long weekend to Disney and a contribution towards the bills would be a better way of thanking them for their help,

spending every penny (and more) on an extended holiday, while your parents help support your family isn't the old style way of living as I've always seen it,

more saving what you can, where you can, and THEN spending what you SAVE on treats

I don't think you're being picked on Beki. Some people (me included) have just been honest about our feelings. Perhaps we shouldn't as it's not really any of our business.
I think it is difficult for some of us dyed in the wool moneysavers to understand your situation, that's all.

I do hope you reach your target and enjoy your holiday.

Ok. I have to be honest - i DO feel ashamed. BUT i thought i might get a degree of understanding here - or at least not an earbashing :(

My parents are in a situation where they CAN help us out right now. I know that doesn't make it right, but that's how it is.

We WILL be paying them back every single penny, but they (like us) don't want our children's childhoods passing us by - they go so quickly, and i'm sorry but i'd rather take money from my parents ON LOAN and give my children some fantastic memories to look back on.

We've already had to cancel a holiday twice this year, and see the disappointment on DD's face - so i feel like we're kind of making it up to her, by having a super duper long holiday in january.

I do TRY to be as OS as i can. I'm the same as every single person on here, except i let my parents help me out (temporarily, and they will be paid back) so i can take the children on holiday.

    Hi Beki

Don't worry about your son and his nappies!!! He will eventually go the loo. My middle son (now 8) was in nappies after 3!!! He was 3 in the october, went to nursery in the november (Nursery was v good accepting him with nappies) When christmas break came teacher told him that after hols he couldn't come back if he was still wearing nappies. Next day he threw them away and was dry both day and night from then!! He never used the potty though went straight on the toilet like a 'big boy'
