Devious and unfair Thames Water - customer BEWARE!!!!

This is very good news indeed, all the more as | would not have expected that TW would accept any responsibility.
I wish that they would reimburse all the people in my position i.e. low users who have been overcharged for decades on the RV tariff because we know we can't have water meters and were deliberately not informed about alternatives.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

no no no
if a meter is installed and reverted back to rateable no matter which company it is they will know that meter is there. and when the new owner moves in they go straight to metered charging not rateable
i would be taking a reading over three months to get a rough measure of what you will be using and then contact them with your reading and demand you go on the meter and refunds if no speak to watervoice. they will assist on this matterneed to have a lightbulb moment0 -

This is just not true..Severn Trent for example do not put new tenants/owners on a meter, even if one was fitted. Also the way the computer system works for billing it is easy for a meter to drop off the billing cycle if it is taken out of route. Then the new owner/tenant would be brought into charge exactly the same as the last owner/tenant.
That is just the way the billing works.
Also there are meters that were put in years ago and never billed on that do get lost in the system.
Some water companies make all new customer have a meter installed but as yet that is only some companies as it is not an OFWAT must..(yet)There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I apologise, I only saw these new posts now.
Maggiean was luckier than me, she got her cash back. We only got a portion of the overcharged cash back (still, better than nothing), BUT, our neighbour whom we told about this, got a full, nice, hefty checque, too.. His water bill (metered) is now 80% less than previously, as he lives on his own in a large house. Oh yes, it was TM that installed these meters, so they full well knew that the meters were there, but they continue to charge by RV.
"You would hardly move into a property that required LPG heating and then wonder where the gas meter was would you ?"
This doesn't make any sense to the original post.
Sometimes people who used to live in flats, or abroad, don't know about water meters. I used to get my water bill and thought that this was the charge for how much water I used. Only later, through chance reading of an article, I found out about water meters. Incidentally, Thames Water used to have it written on their website that all the new owners whose property have water meter would be charged as per usage, not RV. This was obviously misleading as it didn't turn out to be the case with me.
Anyway, I am glad that other people got refunded, if TM installed the meters, they have the record of them and should charge new occupiers accordingly. Anything else is unfair and misleading, IMO.0 -
But you had 4 years to find out about water meters (they're hardly a state secret) and ask for one to be fitted-that would have bought the hidden meter to light. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

hello,
ive recently been informed by a family member that i am paying way too much for my thames water bill. roughly £50 a month 10 months a year (i think). i have a 2 bed maisonett/flat and have only myself in the house. i was not made aware of a water meter being an option when i monved in two years ago and was lead to believe because im in a maisonett/flat, i was unable to have one.
i will be calling thames water ASAP, but just wanted to know if i would still be legible for a complete refund for the past two years?
having read the previous posts, it seems that the people who have been refunded, already had meters, but were anware.
and do you have to pay for a meter to be fitted? (if i dont have one)
any advice would be great.
thanks0
