I have no problem seeing people losing their homes and getting them repossessed if they can't afford them and have not taken out adequate insurance - irrespective of whether they've got a family or not ("But think of the children! Oh the humanity!!!").

On the streets? Bed and Breakfasts? Bullsh!t!

There's an abundance of rental properties out there (from something called "Buy To Let", which I hear has been quite popular) - they can move into those!!!

I know it must be an awful burden and shame for those prestigious "home owners" to have to rough it in rental with the likes of me - the great unwashed - but it's tough !!!!!!.

I can't afford my own home and, by the sounds of it, nor can they! What's with the preferential treatment??!! I now have to pay my rent AND somebody else's mortgage - something that I can't afford to take out myself!!! Why is no one offering to pay my rent for me??

I tell you, with each passing day I'm feeling more and more like Michael Douglas in "Falling Down".

Where's the spirit and the fire of the Poll Tax riot days? Look at the Thai people who are acting to get out a leader and government they don't like, rather than just sitting back and waiting like we are. Waiting for GB to call a general election in 2 years time....the damage by then will be SO severe that it will take many, many years to recover.

We're like a dog lying on a cactus, who prefers to just lay there and howl rather than get up and do something about the pain. :rolleyes:

You know, we're usually all so dignified and philosophical when we discuss issues on this board but anne211981's first step has ignited some kind of fury in me today! Why the fk should we put up with this horsesh!t any longer??? This isn't just a proposal - they're actually going to do it! With OUR money!!!

I am really, really fked off about this! What can we actually do about this other than just post anonymously on discussion boards and moan?! Can we MAKE the government call an election??? They are, after all, supposed to be doing OUR bidding?! WE employ THEM and they're making a mockery of our sovereignty!

I tried to stir us in to a march ...lots of people said yes, then I suggested as a first step, one of those petitions and put up the link and asked for a group effort in wording.....suddenly it went very quiet.

I remain willing to help with any (legal) demonstration or organised and dignified protest and prepared to help in any way I can (as I said before I think the first thing would be a role call of support and a non MSE affiliated web page for organisation).

Those that need the government to bail them out, will be happy to have the taxes spent in this way. Those people that are astute, will not be happy with Brown using their money to help out those who have got themselves into a financial mess.
It is interesting to read these threads and note which posters are in trouble.
