SKY - rip off merchants

Anybody know how to contact SKY without using their 0870 premium rate, nobody-ever-answers number?

I know they used to have a few cheaper numbers but I cannot find these.

Their website always directs you to the 0870 number - no email contact possible (from what I can see).

I am trying to find out what can be removed from the subscription.

Does anybody know if individual channels can be removed or do you have to fit into one of their "packages"?

I want the sports channels but could not care about any of the others such as documentaries (well certainly not for the money they charge!).

We removed the movies ages ago but it is still expensive.

Try http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk/ Do a search for Sky Digital and a few 0870 numbers come back in the 0870 number column. Look over to Freephone and you will see the Free phone numbers... Most of the numbers on that site work, I have used them a few times...

If it is the 0870 2424242 number, try the freephone number 0800 2793366. Apparently, Sky Digital is option 1 and Cable is option 2.

Just tried all the 0800 numbers and they do not work. Have SKY got wise...?

Cheeky s*ds, they make enough money on the mindless drivel and advertising!

I'll try an 0845 number as the next best one.

Just did and that one is "not in service".

    Maddening!!

Hi, Sorry the phone numbers didn't work for you - they don't always!

I just had a look around on Google and found the following site: http://www.sky.com/ordersky/faqs/skydigitalbasics/contactingsky. As it is channels you are trying to find out about, I looked under "How can I get advice on programming and channels?". There is an email address there: viewer@bskyb.com.

Also, did you see on the https://www.saynoto0870.com site that Ofcom (the regulator for telephone services and providers) are planning to change some of the 0870 numbers plus other numbers beginning 08xx. (e.g. 0845, 0844, 0871) See here: http://www.saynoto0870.com/consultation/, here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=105507, here for the Official Ofcom site report: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/nts_forward/nts_pes/ and email any opinions here: nts@ofcom.org.uk.

    Hope this helps! ;)

Have you seen my post I posted a little earlier...? Hold on, I'll dig it out of my subscription list........... [thread]113351[/thread]. All about Sky's unfortunate "policy"...
The service is great, the only trouble is it is sold by a company called Sky...

    It gets better.

I used the email address listed on their website and it has just got sent back to me because the address is not recognised.

Anybody would think they only want to be called on the 0870 number...

Having spent a few minutes on the SKY website I have found that it is probably cheaper to quit with the subscription and sign up again.

Those 0870 numbers are such a pain, I know. Sky are a pain as well, like I said in my quote:

. Sorry it didn't work this time.

Anyway, we all need to get our opinions known about those 0870 and other 08xx numbers - use the links above and email away - Links here: [post]1118031[/post]

    Good luck! ;)

alot of people have managed to call the cancellations team and got money off their subscriptions if you are out of that initial twelve months, Try that before cancelling. something along the lines of NTL are currently offering 6 months half price...

depending on who you speak to they might even surprise you.
