Went to Central Milton Keynes yesterday. Got reduced Avent Sportster cup 88p. They still had a couple left. Also got TD wipes and 200 pts. They had stacks of under five pound TD stuff. Also had loads of TD reduced in old packaging so you could get more than one product with the till spit. Picked up R M eye brush. Till beeped. SA said "the voucher works with the make up bag if you want something under five pounds, would you like me to get one for you" How brilliant was that. Also they were giving out packs of baby rice and organic rusks absolutely free.
Thanks to everyone for all of the tips.;)

    Again - sorry but...

Why should it be necessary to state that Advantage Card holders only get one free copy of a £1.00 magazine? (If it's not already stated).

Also, some people (like me) forget what magazines they have already got. So why embarrass them at the till? Are people here really saying that they want the till to beep for everyone who genuinely forgets that they've had a free H&B magazine?

The vouchers are clear about the one per person thing. This thread, and its predecessors, has brought it up. MSE Bootsers know about this point. Even I'm aware of it now, and can't truthfully blame amnesia for getting another H&B mag.

Personal responsibility guys. Whether the till beeps or not, we know what the small print says. It's up to us what we do about that.

    Hi Coolcait :hello:

    You make some interesting points.

I just wanted to point out that I don't think that it's "necessary" for Mr B to put up notices reminding customers that it's one copy of the mag per customer, nor am I naive enough to imagine that most of the customers have fogotten that they've had more than one copy :rotfl: and I don't think people would be too distraught (sp?) at being told they'd already had a mag if the till beeped, if they had been reprogrammed to do that if the AD card had already received that months issue - goodness, we have worse from some SA's :rotfl:

T&C's - there's a subject! They're stretched in many shops, and I think if they wanted to start arguing about voucher t&c's they'd be opening a can of worms.

My post wondering if perhaps Boots should have made this move to warn customers of a crackdown and then reprogramme tills first before any particular action against a customer/customers was simply wondering if they would've done this to recognise that, whilst we do make the most of the glitches and offers, we ARE some of the most loyal shoppers around - hence the often jokey posts about 'superdrug' being a swear-word. Boots know that by getting the most out of them, we become fiercly loyal and buy all our toiletries etc at Boots, so they do in fact make plenty of money from us (barring the few that just abuse the offers - those, I think are the minority).

My point is (yes, I am getting there....:rotfl: ) if they go straight from one extreme (allowing any number of mags and vouchers) to the other extreme (prosecuting for overuse) then all they will achieve is ill will, which surely is just biting the hand that feeds them?

I hope that made sense :o

Anyway, whilst this is an interesting debate, it's based on hearsay (again, sp?) at the moment, so I will leave it at this

I love the central MK shop - all the SA's are lovely there, pleased when you get a bargain, happy to put vouchers through, friendly etc. Huge shop, well laid out. No7 staff weren't very helpful though!

Wish my local shops were like that! Can only get to MK a few times a year!
  • Morning all

Popped in boots on the way home yesterday as my mum wanted me to pick up some sun cream. only picked up 2 as she didin't want loads and i don't need it but any how when i got to the till they came up bogof and half price so it was £6 for both, i then pulled out a pinkie and said oh i can use this can't i ....SA looked at me and then said aahh you need 2 of them as i will need to cancel what i've done and put them through seperately ..... my reply don't be silly its b1g1 free so i only need to pay £1 ...SA says oh yeah and let me pay £1 lol

Spotted some S&G pink bowling bag things with products inside for £7.50
S&G body butters £8 (sure these were £4 in town)
Loads of No17 eye shawdows n blushers for 10p
    lots of aftershave reduced

  • Hi all,

I only found this thread a couple of nights ago and had great fun at Boots yesterday - couldn't believe that the TS and Lynx things would actually work! Another addict in the making I'm afraid :D

I have a quick question - sorry if the answer of obvious to those that know what they're doing. If I use the till spit to get £5 off time delay, can I use the 200 points on TD coupon from the magazine on the same purchase? I did use the £5 off no7 coupon yesterday in qualifying for the GWP with no problems. Also, can you use two £5 coupons in the same transaction if you've spent £10?

I think this might be the start of something....

    Welcome! :j

Glad you've had some fun shopping! I'm afraid you can only use 1 of each type of coupon per transaction so you couldn't use 2 pinkies in a £10 No7 transaction.
You are absolutely right about the time delay, you can use both your points coupon and your skincare tillspit.

    ;)
"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".

Hello :hello: and welcome to the boots thread

We are a friendly bunch and glad you have came to join us in all the fun

Yes you can use the td 200pts coupon and use the till spit, sales assistant willing of course. Most people usually hand over the 200pts coupon first then give over the ts

And im afraid the next question re using 2 coupons in the same transaction if you have spent £10 is no. Now that would be nice though eh :D

    Happy bootsing

Yes you can, although the SA (sales assistant) may not allow it. The till does though.
Also, can you use two £5 coupons in the same transaction if you've spent £10?
    Sadly no!

    Welcome to MSE btw. :)
