This is why aldi/lidl dont take credit cards as payment as the card fee is more than that of a debit card0

that comment is a bit sarcastic but its funny0 -
seriously doubt it considering the amount it would cost them to bank the cash, not just bank fees but the time staff spend counting the tills,Sugarfree_Babe wrote: »Do I get a 2.75% discount for paying cash? If not, I will be paying for a service I do not receive.
just because its not written on the receipt that there are costs associated with cash doesn't mean there aren't any!Yes Your Dukeiness

You wanted to them to refund your debit card so that you could write them a cheque, which would have been for the exact same amount that they had originally charged to your debit card. Forgive me, as I must be missing something in your thought processes here.Sugarfree_Babe wrote: »Today I went into Boots and bought some make up. After I had paid with my debit card I saw a very small notice. It said that Boots charge customers 2.75% to pay by card. I asked if they would take a cheque instead but was told they do not take cheques.
Do you know of any other shops that do this?
Perhaps you were trying to save them the card fee so that they would make more profit on your transaction? That was very generous of you.0 -
Remember that cash payments must be recounted, sorted, securely sent off etc.
Most shops would me more than happy to replace their staff with a giant vending machine if they could.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
