What's the best broadband deal?

Hi,

We are currently with BT, and are just coming to the end of our tie-in period so can move if we want to.

We have had no issues with BT whatsoever, so may try and see if they will do us a deal to stop us moving...however, rather than pay £20 per month with BT, are there any better deals?

Please do not recommend Sky though, we waited for about 4 months for them to connect us, having paid for a router and an engineer visit and they never got us connected - we cancelled (never got the money back though) and had to chase and chase for ages for a code thing we never needed - BT had us upa nd running in days!

For info, we don't do much in the way of downloading at all, mainly surfing, forums and emails.

Thanks, any advice appreciated.

Just got connected to o2 BB and very pleased with their service so far.£12.50/month or £7.50/month if you have a o2 mobile contract.Up to 8Megs and unlimited downloads.

Sounds good but then it nearly doubles to £14/Month in 2009.I hate these deals where they get your attention with a low starting price and then shoot up after initial period.I know lots of companies do it but it actually puts me off as its really a scam. Why not just tell us the proper price up front.
  • for me, what differentiate a good broadband is the after sales service, I have been with BT before, everything is ok except for the customer service, every time we need contact customer service, it will take ages before you get to talk to a real person, that is the sole reason why I switched to O2 broadband and their customer service is excellent . . . .

Just checked the O2 website and apparently they do not cover our area:( . Shame, as we both have O2 phones!

  • BT BB Option 1 coming to end of contract. Told BT operator I was thinking of moving to Plusnet essential bundle (£16.99 8M BB + unlimited w/e phone), and before I got the words out of my mouth she offered to drop BB from £17.99 to £9.49/month, which with £10.50 line rental is £19.99 for BB and unlimited weekend and evening calls. I was pushing for BT Vision deal, but didn't get offered anything tasty on this.
