I have just purchased a new laptop and have had the hard sell from comet member of staff to get anti virus but refused to buy expensive Norton - I obviously still need to buy some but what is best/cheapest...thanks.

You'l get a lot of answers on this as most have their favourite
I have tried most and settled with Avast!Free
There is also AVG Free
AntiVir Free
They don't come much cheaper than that. All three are good products.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I use Kaspersky, never had a problem with it, they also do a 2 year deal.

Avast slows your system down a lot IME.0 -
I have found Avast to be quicker and better than AVG
Also use Spybot0 -

I use ESET Smart Security. It's very light on resources and doesn't appear to slow my system down (it also uses NOD32 anti-virus which is one of the best around).
I did use the 30 day trial of Kaspersky but my pc isn't powerfull enough to run it smoothly, it was a major nightmare for me to surf the internet. Although I have heard it is supposed to be very good.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. i am thinking of getting this but dont pay the price quoted there because i have seen it in shops for £20. one shop that i remember were it is £20 is amazon.0 -
you could always use NO anti-virus software- like I have been doing for years. My computer just grinds to a halt with anything other than NOD32, and even that is dreadful.
No infections on 3 computers for half a decade. Dont belive the hype about viruses- only inexperienced users get them0
