  • Hi

Check out www.islandsmaldives.com this shows hotel deals directly from the hotels if you fancy planning it yourself. Couple of pointers make sure your transfers are included many islands require a sea plane transfer which can be costly and secondly go all inclusive if you can (which is see you are), drinks even water is very expensive as everything has to be imported.

Another website worth keeping an eye on is www.luxurylink.com they hold autions for travel packages (not inc flights) to some amazing hotels, maybe even worth considering other destinantions as they have some amazing places at great prices.

If you need anymore info on the Maldives let me know I worked out there for a couple of months last year, I also worked in Singapore so know a few great places there too.

It may be worth speaking to your friend in Sing for deals to the Maldives, you could then get a return to Singapore and book the Maldives holiday from Singapore, it is a very popular destination for locals and ex pats so plenty of deals should be available
  • Go to www.firstchoice.co.uk

In the search bar type in Club Faru (it doesn't come up on their Maldives search, don't know why!)

Types in your dates and you can go all inclusive for 2587.80.

We stayed there for 2 weeks in July and couldn't of had a better holiday anywhere in the world. It was my first time on a plane ever and the 10 hour flight was well worth it, GUARANTEED! Loads of people there on Honeymoon, Anniversary, special Birthday or Romantic Getaway. Onyl 152 max. people on island so very secluded but plenty to do if you get bored. Paradise doesn't come close to the Maldives.

If you need further persuading just look up www.tripadvisor.co.uk and check out the reports for the islands, Club Faru especially but you can find out all about the maldives there too. Great site and some advice that you will never forget.

Good Luck finding your perfect trip. x
  • We went to the Maldives in July 2007, although out of season, the weather was great. If I had to pick between the Maldives and St Lucia, the Maldives would win hands down every time. One hotel on one island is so different to what St Lucia can offer.

We stayed on Makunudu Island, only 34 bungalows so really secluded but food and service were both excellent.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time
  • Well it is a woman's perogative to change her mind, now looks like we are not going to the Maldives but have opted for a 7 night stay all inclusive at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa (in Antigua of course). It's a shorter flight with Virgin Atlantic which I've heard are very good and we've opted to get the Premium Economy seats both ways. Also having the Honeymoon Grande Luxe room (without concierge), we might get lucky and if when we get there we mention we're celebrating our silver anniversary might get a room upgrade! At the moment it's a bidding war between 3 travel companies/agents to see who can come up with the best price, so far £4046 and counting (down). Hopefully will be booking later tonight or tomorrow once final price agreed then it will just leave the insurance to sort out which I'll probably look on moneysupermarket.com for a good quote/cover on that (unless you have any suggestions).
  • Sounds wonderful!!! The premium economy seats will definitely add to the experience! When we went on our honeymoon, the travel agent actually gave us insurance and free lounge access, which was a real bonus - may be try this in the negotiation!!! I'd really recommend getting yourself lounge access anyway, I think its under £20 each and is definitely a wonderful way to start your holiday!

    Have a brilliant time

Yes I've heard about the V Room at the airport costing £15 each or the Executive Lounge there costing £20 each, even if we can't blag it as a freebie it's not a bad price for a bit more luxury.:A
