    I would at least get some quotes from one of the big companies like Thomson. This will give you a good baseline to work from. Then you can try some other operators or even look at "packaging" the holiday yourself by looking at airfare prices and hotel prices. Try a site like Travelsupermarket.com for this.
    Have a great trip!
    Popped into Thomas Cook on Friday, didn't think it would take long but their computers were playing up and I was late getting back to my car, ticket ran out but luckily I had my eldest son with me and told him to go sit in car. Anyway got quote for £4740 for 10 nights at Sun Island Resort & Spa but this is still coming over our budget, might have to drop it down to 7 days. In the meantime have sent out lots of email requests to online companines to see what they come up with.
  • This is a new one on me not being a seasoned holiday maker, insurance! Thomas Cook have quoted us £69.99 per couple for travel/holiday insurance for the quote of 10 day holiday to the Maldives in Feb next year. Is it the norm' to go with the travel/tour company or best to search online and try elsewhere? Anyone got any ideas? I asked my in-laws but they usually use the Post Office, when I tried them it would cost even more than the Thomas Cook quote.:eek:
  • We went to Kuredu in 2005 and stayed in a Jacuzzi Beach Villa. We were really pleased that we did this rather than a water villa, as the wooden walkways to the water villas got really hot, and you would have needed shoes, instead we just popped out of our beach villa and sat on the most sublime beach ever!!!! If it was a choice between a longer holiday and a water villa I'd pick the longer holiday every time!!!!

    Also we've just bought single trip insurance for Mauritius next year and have got a prive of £58 for 2 adults and 1 child with no excess. If you try a comparison site like moneysupermarket you should get some good quotations. Also before you book with a high street agent try some of the web agencies. We got an excellent deal to Mauritius with Tropical Sky.

    Please also check which airline you are travelling with. I've heard really bad stories about Monarch, and I wouldn't fancy a 10 hour flight with them. You'd probably get better service with a scheduled airline like Qatar or Emirates (although these are not direct)

    Good luck choosing - you'll have an amazing time!!!

    Hi Endora,

    I don't know if it suits your exact date but if you look on first choice they have Sun island for £3833 AI for 14 nights. Thats flying from Gatwick on the 18th and coming back on the 5th March. I don't know if that includes seaplane though.

    Looked on their website but couldn't find this offer, it seems very good for All inclusive and for 14 nights too. I don't think the seaplane transfers cost too much if they're not included. Do you have a link to this offer?:T

    Hi try this:

    http://bookings.firstchoice.co.uk/holiday/index.cfm?step=holiday_price&si=0000AA03%2DFF8A%2D18D7%2D95EF83A402370000

    I can't remember how much we paid for the sea plane transfer so they may take it slightly over 4K (but not much). I would definately recommend them though as the boat takes approx 2.5 hours. Great veiws aswell.

    Hi Yorkie, well I tried clicking on your link but it takes me to a page where I have to enter the details of the holiday and when I put in the dates you stated and place it keeps saying there is nothing available?:confused:
  • I went to St Lucia with work in 1987. Very nice too but I'd choose the maldives.

    GG
    There are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.
  • hi - as others have said, done both would pick Maldives everytime
    try trailfinders - they've always found good deals in the past
    http://hotels.trailfinders.com/tailormadehotels.nsf/hotels?readform&continent=indianocean&country=MALDIVES&region=Maldives

    If you decide on St Lucia - I stayed at the Le Sport which was really nice - all inclusive including daily spa treatment. There were loads of activities including golf.

    Hmmm does for me now too.
    Can still find it though.
    Go to Firstchoice
    In search box:

    When are you going= 19th Feb 09
    Stay= 11 nights or more
    Airport= Any London
    Where are you going= Maldives
    Who=2 Adults

    Click search

    scroll down
    Click further details
    Click continue
    There should be 2 prices displayed (£2855 & £3473)
    Click continue next to £2855
    Click choose meal option
    Change to AI
    That should bring the price to £3833
