The Maldives or St Lucia?

My husband and I are looking to go on a belated honeymoon (as we never had one when we first got married), it is also to celebrate our 25th anniversary in Feb next year (2009). We are currently looking at an all inclusive deal either in the Maldives or St Lucia for about 10 days, we've picked up lots of various brochures but as we've not booked a holiday before not sure what is the best way to go about getting a good deal. Does anyone have any recommendations as to who to use?:A

one point to note is that the cricket world cup is on in the caribbean next year - not sure the exact dates but could cover february - check this out as it may increase the pricesKeep the Faith:cool:0

I got married in St Lucia in 2006 - I found it lovely, warm and relaxing but tbh I didn't venture out of the hotel unless it was an organised trip. I can't help with the Maldives, but let me know if you have any questions about St Lucia I can help.0

England are playing the West Indies at Cricket this Winter and I'm going! The only match being played in St Lucia is a one day game on the 3rd April.0 -

We got married in st lucia in 2000 and loved it, in fack we went back for our 1st wedding anniversary in 2001.
it was fab, we were all in but also ventured out and about and it truly is heaven on earth , great food, great weather, great shopping , great night life.
my uncle lived there for a good few years, its such a beautiful place, the people really make it, they are so warm and friendly.
the only reason we havent been back since is beacuse we have 3 little girls now!!!total -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -

hello stayed at almond morgan bay in st lucia for our honeymoon in oct/nov 2006 and was stunning. hotel was great, and the island is lovely we did so many trips whilst there. (embarssingly i get travel sick and went on a fishing boat and puked over the side the guide was like oh whats that a fish has done!!!) Only downside is the transfer from airport was 2 and half hrs and very hot!!! some hotels nearer airport but most other side of island.
we went with virgin just as the planes are more comfortable for a long journey.
we hope to go to the maldives next nov/dec.0 -
Yes, I'll be there for the cricket too. I've done St Lucia and the Maldives. It depends what you're into. I've dived and snorkelled all over the world. The Maldives takes some beating for snorkelling and just chilling out. Not much else to do. "No news, no shoes" I'd go for the Maldives every time, preferrably one with a house reef. Not cheap but doesn't matter if you're AI.0

Im off to St Lucia in a couple of weeks but only because I cant afford the Maldives.
Went to the Maldives about 3 yrs ago. It is the most stunning place in the world, takes alot to beat a holiday there. Maldives everytime for me, just wish I could afford it!0 -
hi, ive been to St Lucia many times as dh is St Lucian, let me know if i can help. It is a beautiful country with many lovely hotels to stay in. dh is back off there Nov/Dec to see his family but i cannot afford to go with him this time and am jealous as hell! lol
I agree that the travel from the airport is a long one but its worth it when you see the banana plantations, the local villiages and wonderful scenery.
There are many trips you can take from boat trips to see the Pitons and waterfalls, going to the Friday Jump up - a local night with lots to eat, with music to soak up the local culture, a pirate boat trip, snorkelling, diving, days out to the rain forest and botanical gardens or you can simply sit and enjoy the many white sand beaches.
I havent been to the Maldives so i can't compare but i will help if i canLove a charity shop bargain0
