It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    Thanks Linda,

if there was a nasty message it must have been deleted so I didnt see it, but thanks for the warning anyway. Hmmm, think that's karmas way of telling me I havent been paTROLLing recently so best get my butt over to the warning thread soon.

Quick update - had a fun bike ride, but had to go buy new innertube for £5.00 then had to top up on bread, milk, tea, coffee (bogof yay) & sugar so that was another £5.37, I havent had an NSD for ages so plan on having one tomorrow.

Very tired but the light is still up & it works, but have to keep reminding myself to use light switch rather than lamp which was on microwave, which was on fridge freezer :rolleyes2 , oh yes, it was a very ramshackle kitchen !!

Was about to jump in the bath when I remembered I hadnt done any ironing so that was a bit unpleasant & I've just now remembered that I need to put clean sheets on my bed

That's it now, I'm all done, quick paTROLL then bed,

I like your style. Unfortuantely I don't get away with the damsel in distress rountine as I'm a caretaker and spend my life doing that sort of thing.

Spent all weekende removing all traces of OH from the car and listed it on E-bay last night after agonising for hours over the wording. Wasn't quite daft enough to go with a 99p start but it did cross my mind. Have aquired 8 watchers overnight and a question forom a car dealer who wants to collect on wednesday but hasn't mentioned any figures.

Hope you don't get too annoyed with the workmen.

  • Just thought I'd pop in and say well done on the light and hope that your DD enjoyed her bike ride. We can't get DS off his bike now he can ride it without his stabilisers.

Have a good week and I will catch up with you when I get back.

    Aaagh,

I now have a fridge freezer in my living room too ! workmen needed to put it in another room & I said that there would be space if only that enormous old tv wasnt in the way  .

Moo2, I do prefer to do stuff myself - I get irritated by either waiting for others to do chores for me or worse having to pay . That's probably why I'm single - have no patience with men that can do less than me !!

My boss was meant to turn up with work at 9am, but i had a text from another worker to say she's taken the day off so I wont be getting my workload til midday, that means I'm going to have to cut the grass now. I'm suddenly feelng all self conscious & will have to wait til workmen go to lunch before having a wee !!

    Will update later

My stress levels are finally levelling out again :)

workmen were very noisy - obviously as they were ripping out cupboards & layers of plaster off the wall. I usually work home alone & quite enjoy the peace & quiet or listening to the radio so found all the racket quite unnerving. It didnt help that my workload was 3 hours late or that someone drove into the door of my car. Turns out it was a teaching assistant form DDs primary school & although she kept apologising she also told me that she was so glad it was me  .

I'm really not precious about my car, it's fairly old & battered & I view it as an extremely useful tool rather than a status or identity symbol, so a dent doesnt bother me at all but she insisted on ringing her insurance company although I did try to say she'd lose her no claims & her excess is probably worth more than my car. I now feel kind of bad as had insurance company on the phone offering me courtesy cars etc... & I really dont care about dents & scratches.

Funny though how different people are, I was reading a post recently about someone whose postie had dented their bumper & they were furious as it was a £15,000 car they hadnt paid for yet. I kind of get how that amount of money spent on a car would make a person quite protective about it, yet on the other hand I dont really want to be like that over what is essentially a metal box that gets you from one place to another  . DD & I could have 5 fantastic holidays for that sum & I really think that would mean more to me than a 'nice' car :D

Maybe the car incident was a karmic reminder that I didnt say good luck to moo2 for the car auction on ebay. Sorry ;) & I hope it goes really well, I get so wrapped up in my life sometimes... :o .

Anyway, back to me again :D I've done another lightspeed survey so now have 1730 points. I'm due to do my 'private :shhh:' job tomorrow & collect my boots from the menders but I'm going to leave them there til wednesday as I'll have to pay Brownies subs on wednesday so it makes sense to do all spending on one day & try for another NSD tomorrow. I think I'll also order new fridge then too & maybe then I can stop spending for a while. I'm getting really fed up with it now  . I have paid £150 off cc1 today but it takes 3 days to appear in cc account so i wont update my sig until it shows up.

I am so tired & electrician is due at 8 so I need to be up early for my morning cuppa.

Another day of kitchen chaos over - phew. Today was rewiring so loads of drilling & dust everywhere. I now have 8 sockets though as well as clever little under counter sockets for the fridge, washing machine & cooker :j . As I've survived on only 3 with very dodgy adaptors & extension leads for the last few years I wont know how to use them all up. I am considering a slow cooker though as I'm often too tired to cook a proper healthy meal after work & think that may be a good solution. I've heard good things said about them on old style so they must be healthy & economical ;) .

I'm a bit sad that the electrician has banned & removed my outdoor socket on the grounds that it wasnt weatherproof & therefore likely to assassinate me whilst I cut the grass / trim hedges / vauum the car. Actually I totally made up the last one having never vacuumed my car in 7 years :o .

It's going to be collected for repair tomorrow & then I get a courtesy one to drive around in, bet it has no fuel which I'll be really hacked off with as mine has full tank. I just dont get why they're bothering to repair the dent, it'll cost far more than the car is worth, there's a very dodgy paint repair job on the other side & the offside wing mirror is held on with gaffa tape :rotfl: .

Apart from all that I've had a NSD today :D but the payment I made from co op bank to cc seems to be suspended in space somewhere, it's definitely left my bank account but has not yet arrived in cc account  which is very annoying as I'm desperate to amend my sig ( & order new fridge which will be the final purchase)

I'll be going over the grocery budget again tomorrow but I'm going to leave my boots at the menders until they ring me to come & collect them or it turns really cold ;)

  • I think the woman who went into your car probably just felt really bad and by getting it sorted is her only way of showing how sorry she is even though you've told her it doesn't matter. I say that because I think thats probably how I would feel.

Well done on your NSD, I've had one today too but need to update my sig yet. I really really must go shopping tomorrow, we've not had anything fresh in for weeks and the only groceries I've bought this month is milk. I work in a confectioners and have my dinner there and then quite often bring something home for tea or bread/buns.

What kind of work do you do?

So what are the work men like that are doing your kitchen? I bet you'll be glad when it's all over. Can't believe you've now got that many sockets, is it quite a big kitchen? I have the smallest kitchen I've ever seen! It's the only room in the house thats ever tidy tho!

    I'm feeling stressed & glum tonight :(

guy from garage came to pick car up & walked around it pointing out all the dents, scratches etc. I'm terrified the garage are going to ring & say the're writing it off for about £200. If that happens I'm screwed - have about £150 cash I can scrape together & £1200 on my laughably high interest rate cc. I dont need a car to get DD to school or to go shopping or do regular home work, but I do need it to get DD to swimming, do my :shhh: private job & basically have a life.

Ok, I would save £200 a year on insurance, £110 on AA, £120 on tax, £250 on service & mot & about £400 on fuel ... but that saving is NOT going to clear either of my cc's or give me a life. Seriously, having a car to escape in is about the only thing that keeps me sane whilst all the other carp flies about my life, & I just cant contemplate not having one :(

I think if it does get written off I'll just take the money & my cc & go to nearest 2nd hand dealer, load the CC & then just give up this whole bloody nightmare trying to clear debts lifestyle. So many other people just seem to think that getting their debts written off or going bankrupt is perfectly acceptable; why should I struggle to pay mine  .

Oh yeh, the polar ice shelf that's been hiding in my fridge decided to melt last night so I woke up to nice soggy living room carpet & a fridge full of icy water which nicely ruined the vegetables  I've now ordered a new one which will be delivered on monday, so that was another £160 on the cc along with the £50 deposit for the courtesy car I get to drive around in for a week. Of course it has not fuel in, whereas mine had a full tank  .

I'm too p*ssed off to write anymore so I'll return when my good humour has.

  • Gees Hula, it really had been a carp day !!!

I totally understand what you mean about your car. It's a choice only you can make! we could probably all pay our debts off quicker if we went without somethings but if you're not at the point where you need to get rid of your car then why should you!! You're DFD is not so far away, and as you're on this site doing something about it I'm sure you won't let it get out of hand. You still need to have a life. The only reason I learnt to drive was for my DD so I know how important it is to be able to take her to classes and for you's to go for drives etc.

I'm looking forward to you coming back with your humour, your posts always make me laugh !!
Take it easy tonite and hopefully tomorrow you'll be able to put today behind you.

:grouphug: Here's a dodgy hug for you, I'm not normally a huggy but I reckon you could do with one. Plus you made my day yesterday without even realising it so it's the least I can do :)
