    Good evening :hello: ,

Welcome back Tea :D, I've missed you & hope you had a lovely holiday.
We're coping fine without the kitchen & I've had a goood old scrub & clean up which makes me feel better, how sad :o .

Gosh Moo2, what a result on the p&p to Germany :D . One day I shall get myself a digital camera & then I'll attempt to ebay... no breath holding though  .

By now your car auction must have ended so I shall be wanting to hear how it went ?

How old is your DD1 ? I actually thought mine was never going to learn to ride a bike. About 4 years ago she tried & didnt like it & refused to get on a bike again until about 6 months ago when one day she just got on & rode it, no practice, no stabilisers  . Guess they just do things when they're ready. How very frustrating for her though that her younger sister has managed it, I can just imagine how that irks her...my younger sister has savings / isas rather than debts  . Blackpool sounds like fun, & yes, an escape plan might be a way of doing it ;) . We live very close to Thorpe Park & Chessington & often get free entry tickets in local paper or Tesco. Used to have annual pass as so close but certainly wouldnt bother if it was a day trip as so often the rides are packed/closed  . Queuing for half an hour is not my idea of a good day out  .

Anyway, I have not spent a single penny today. Had to do the Gatwick pick up & as soon as we got back I started to do a clean & tidy up. The place actually feels a bit more like home again now :). I need to disconnect the old fridge so have frozen loads of ice packs to put in a cool bag to keep frozen food in until the new one arrives, which I am now scared will be too small. It has to be less costly than only using one out of 3 drawers in the freezer though.

Should hear from the insurers tomorrow so I've hidden the courtesy car in the garage just in case ;) . I'm going to update my sig now & then grab an early night with my book,

    G'nite

    Hiya Lula!

The car sold. OH still in shock. We got just over £1000 for it after E-bay fees. Better still its being collected at lunchtime today and they're paying in cash. Planning to go straight into town and pay a chunk off the debt prior to slapping another 7k on when we pay for the new car next weekend.

Have also persuaded the boss to let me do 20 hours overtime this week painting a classroom or 2 so I'll be cream crackered by friday but the extra cash will come in very handy.

DD1 is about to turn 9, DD2 is 5 but a very determined 5. If I'm trying to get her bigger sister to do something DD2 will make a point of doing it first and doing a better job. Yesterdays attempt to be helpful found me staring at a laundry basket of wet washing 20 minutes after I was convinced I'd hung it up on the line. Turns out DD2 retrieved it from the line by standing on a Little Tikes Rocking Whale. Did think I was going slightly mad.

Hope the new fridge arrives on time.

    Hi Moo,

Great news about the car :j .

Our DD s about the same age then, mine turns 9 on 2nd October.

Just had a phone call to say fridge will be delivered in half an hour, told the driver 'well, it's not really between 10 & 2 is it' but earlier is fine by me !

Also had text from work driver to say yet again, I wont get my work load til 12 - 3 hours late. So I sent text back saying that I'd better have 3 hours less work then, not very sensible but am so cross that boss has done this again for the 2 nd week running & not bothered to tell me herself. A 2 min phone call would do  so I'm now going to start looking for a new job - had enough of being treated like I have no life other than to do her work
  • HI Lula,

Hope that your new fridge comes okay, as you say earlier is fine. Could be worse at least they didn't ring to tell you that it was going to be late.

Re: Job, I can't say I blame you for being angry. I would be too, fingers crossed that you find something soon.

    Grrrrr

I have been so enraged today at one point I actually thought I might self combust.

Big thumbs up to Argos who called to say they'd be delivering an hour ahead of schedule. Very polite drivers, delivered new fridge to exactly where I asked & removed the old one. I'm delighted with new fridge, it's so tiny & sweet looking & will fit perfectly under the counter but is perfectly large enough inside both fridge & freezer to store weeks chilled & frozen food :D .

Kitchen units arrived as Argos men were delivering & I immediately recognised that the colour was totally different from what I ordered. Lots of humpy workmen looking patronisingly at me telling me that was the colour I ordered. My point is that it's a very different colour from the sample I was shown. I really dont 'do' victim but I feel totally bullied & disregarded & I think it's because not only am I female but I'm also single & a parent & tenant & therefore my opinions just arent relevant  .

So, what with the boss being an inconsiderate mare too I wasnt in the mood for just accepting it. So the man with the samples is coming round on wednesday to 'prove' my choice. Thing is as I pointed out to workmen ; I would not have chosen the worktop I now have, to go with the doors I have, I was very specific about the colour choice, oh well, that's what happens when men are allowed to plan & design kitchens  . The fitter realised that the wall cupboards didnt fill the wall space properly & put up some ridiculous attempt at filling in the 10cm gap by adding a plinth with the grain that runs vertically next to the cupboard where the grain runs horizontally  I'm sure I dont need to tell you that my hammer & screwdriver have already been in use to remove it.
Need to move on from this topic now, can feel my blood bubbling again
No word from the garage or insurance company yet but I did have a call from my dad who has been thinking over the week end & decided that as long as they offer me minimum £200 write off then he's going to help out with buying a new car. He'd already decided ages ago that the next 'big' thing that needed fixing would mean scrapping the car & now wishes I'd told him about the £235 wheel bearing problem  . Well, I'm actually wishing he'd told me his decision, then I wouldnt have paid for the damn wheel bearing grrrrr MEN.

Oh yeh, inspite of me having told xbf I dont want to see or speak to him again, he text me earlier saying he remembered me saying I was going to pick him up from airport. NO I DID NOT  .

so sorry for ranting like a crazy woman...

I have a fab new fridge freezer & I havent spent any money today & I've been so angry all day that I just couldnt eat much so will probably have lost some weight :)

  • Morning Lula hun,

Sorry that the kitchen wasn't up to scratch, you tell them what for and get it rectified. Glad to hear that the fridge is superb though.

    Hello,

No words yesterday as server down,

It was an NSD & also in the cold light of day & some some big encouragement form a friend, I have decided that the kitchen is good. If I'm honest a lot of disapointment was probably due to having had my eye on 'trinkets & bits' which now wont go with the colour :o . So...it's probably a good thing really as I MUST not buy stuff I dont need.

Yesterday was a NSD & also tiling man day, have now got tiles - very boring & white but you know what's said about beggars & choosers  & he's done a fantastic job - even tiled behind the cooker :D . My honest friend did also point out to me that I'm not actually paying for this kitchen :o - again beggars & choosers comes to mind  .

I had to stock up on bread & milk & as the courtesy car is meant to go back today I though I may as well do a tesco shop for the next week. So, very pleased to report that I spent £ £31.85 on groceries & another £9.00 on household stuff like loo rolls etc.

I was also very mindful of having less freezer space so made sure to only get deals/offers that we would definitely use in the next week. I'm sure that If I had the larger fride/freezer I would have spent an extra £20 just to fill up the space.

Still no word from insurance company  but I'm generally feeling much brighter & less angry. I washed all the cupboards out yesterday & DD & I spent a couple of hours putting stuff in them. I really must clear out more stuff.

I really must get on with more work now too...

    bye for now
