Well we're packed and ready to go. Just got the car to load and the kids to turf out of bed. Ferry from Portsmouth isn't till 3pm though so hopefully we'll miss the worst of the traffic.
Sold something long and heavy on E-bay yesterday with £20 P&P but have since discovered the purchaser lives on the route we're taking so just have to persuade the OH that leaving 15 minutes early and taking a teeny detour is a very MSE thing to do rather than wasting 15 minutes in the post office pension queue at 9am and then leaving later than planned and panicking everytime the traffic slows. Obviously I'll drive him mad anyway by pootling along like a little old lady at an incredibly economical 55mph in the slow lane whilst talking randomly to myself and singing along completely out of tune with Mika or some other CD that hes guaranteed to hate. Having finally grown out of his Gary Glitter phase we're currently suffering Chas and Dave. I will be tempted to turn the disc into a frisbee roundabout Oxford.
Hope you find the car you want eventually Lula. Its not just diesels that fit into the £35 tax bracket though. The Peugeot 107 1.0 litre petrol does, its Group 1 insurance with a claimed 61 mpg combined and as aftermarket bita and piece you can also fit a sunroof and a spoiler and racing seats, fluffy dice etc. etc. Of course it is only marginally bigger than a Smart.
Anyway 1/3rd of the tat I put on E-bay last week sold, will relist the non-sellers next free listing day. Payments are now mid-transfer from paypal to my bank account so will overpay them onto the debt when we return. Played about with the Snowball Calculator yesterday. Its scary stuff. I'm currently due to be debt free September of 2020 handing over to the lenders a whopping amount of interest (I could purchase 4 brand new cars with it). Every £5 per month I overpay now drops 3 months off my DFD. Thats an incentive if ever I needed one.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Well done Moo2 on your e-baying.
You're so right about the over payments, it is well worth it. I can't wait until Christmas as I can hand Sil a huge cheque as an overpayment

Good evening & happy holiday to Moo2.
Very MSE to drop parcel off on the way, just good female common sense me thinks
Well I havent much to report today. I re took my meter readings for pandapws electricity challenge & apparently we've used 38 units this week.
I've had a NSD today as had plenty of work. I hardly have any for tomorrow & my private customer has cancelled for this week, so we're planning a trip to the allotment tomorrow. I will have to buy us both new gloves but that shouldnt be more than £10.
Thanks for the car tips Moo, I had a feeling that your multi skills might include some car buying tips. I actually love those 107 s they are so cute but they're just not big enough as the only car we have. Dad has been out scouting so we'll go & have a proper look during the week & maybe a test drive.
will update when there's more news

Hello,
We've had a great day today; not a NSD as had to get the gloves for the allotment so that was £ £10.98but DD is delighted that she can now wear a small adult size & they had them in turquoise too  . I also discovered fleecy wellie liners .... they were £6.99 but I love wearing wellies - waterproof, up to your knees & they wash off
but my feet get soooo cold. Anyway I decided that they were an investment into free food so worth it financially & having tested them out for a couple of hours they are worth 10 x in warmth, comfort & snugglyness :j I love them & DD says she would like some too but of course will also need new wellies to put them into
.
It was a beautiful clear sunny morning & we were very warmDD pulled up some delicious carrots & we also collected more potatoes, green peppers & the smallest pumpkin in the world , DD was not impressed & I feel a trip to a farm shop will be necessary before friday  .
I found a couple of cars I like so hoping to view/test tomorrow or friday. Got a couple of insurance quotes & the average figure I've been given is £250 so I'm happy with that. Obviously I will be going through Quidco & frankly I cant wait. The home insurance is due in January so more money to be made I hope.
I'm intending to have a NSD tomorrow so I can complete my target for the month.
Off to drool over cars again now

Morning Lula,
Well done on the food, fantastic stuff! I can't say I blame you for buying the wellie liners, at the moment anything that can keep feet warm must be a good thing...I hate being cold.
Hope you manage your NSD today and I will catch up with you later.

Good evening,
I was going to come on & have a bit of a moan as I think it's about 4 weeks since my last rant, funny that  , but then I noticed my shiny new star with a medal & now I dont feel moany at all.
I've had a NSD today which means that I have achieved my 15 out of 15 for OctoberI've already signed up for 15 in November & am already thinking about which days are the easiest to do. Monday is nearly always a safe bet as I take DD to school then work right through until pick up time. Friday is always a spend day as it's payday so I usually do some food shopping then. After half term DD will be swimming on fridays too so that should free up thursday as a NSD ( I often used to wander to the local shop while she was swimming
).
I am thoroughly fed up with the whole car buying malarkey  Dad has changed his mind about what car is best, a lot  . Last week he wanted me to have a diesel so guess who's been trawling through all the diesel cars only to be told today that he doesnt 'particularly' want me to have a diesel ... & then I have to contact some guy who works for a brand P dealership but is selling a P privately. This is inspite of the fact that I very specifically said I wanted brand R . So I ring the guy who tells me that he'll bring it round after he finishes work for me to have a look at it ... at half past five, in the dark  . Well, it looked very er dark but he did point out the small dent which I examined by torchlight & he did show me all the paper work. It's a nice car & £500 less than the ones I've been looking at BUT there'll be no 3 months warranty & more importantly he definitely wont be wanting to take my old beauty in p/ex  .
Anyway, tomorrow we are going to look at 3 cars & I'll be very happy if we can get it over & done with. I've less than a quarter tank of fuel left & have to do a bit of whizzing about on friday & saturday. My current insurance runs out on 21st December - timing  - so would love to change that asap .
I'm hoping once the car biz is sorted it will be a nice quiet & uneventful run until christmas with no extra expenses or events to deal with. Just in case you're thinking I'm a spoiled brat ... I really do appreciate all the good stuff that happens & that people do for me, I just get so frustrated when stuff jeopardises my debt free plan, & angry at myself for getting into this mess.
Hey ho, that's just life & I'm learning from my previous over-living

I never thought for one moment you were a spoilt brat... I don't think you'd have to get yourself out of the mess you're in if you were a spoilt brat!!
I really hope you get it all sorted soon, I've only ever had to buy 1 car and I was only looking to spend a couple of hundred as it was my first but I still found it very hard and frustrating. So scared of making a mistake!
Congratulations of reaching your NSD target!! :T I don't know how you do so many and especially with it being the school holidays!! The allotment sounds like great fun for you as your DD, I soooo could not be bothered because I don't like hard work but I love doing things with DD especially when its something cheap haha!!Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
Overpayment pot - £00 -
Morning Lula hun,
Well done on your NSD target and you new shiny star medal
Feel free to have a whinge and a moan...it is your diary after all and sometimes you feel better for having it written down.
Also I agree with Bowski, I don't think you're a spoilt brat either. These things happen. Besides if you hadn't have got into this mess, you wouldn't be here now and I am grateful for the support you've given me :A
So nerh!
Hope today's sucessful for you with the car hunting and I will look forward to hearing how it went later.

Hellooo Alll!
I survived almost unscathed. Although it really hasn't felt like a holiday. Have blown all our holiday cash, mostly on food. Found out when we'd arrived that a coach firm had gone bust so hotel was shut to guests so that essential maintenance could be performed. Guess what we did. No chef so no food. We've lived on take out for the duration. I'm looking forward to eating a meal which does not involve deep fried chips.
The DDs have had a fab time. They've walked the dog on the beach every day. Had the heated hotel pool to themselves although the door was kept locked to stop them wandering in there when they felt like it. Even made it to a theme park for a few hours where DD2 braved the rollercoaster and every dinner defying ride in the park. She thought it was fab. Her elder sibling was content to ride the teacups again and again and again. After spending 9 hours in the car yesterday we're all glad to be home.
Lula - watch out for the ijiots at the insurance company who charge you £25 for buying a new car. You might find it cheaper to cancel your old insurance policy early and start a new one. Thats always assuming you and your dad can agree on one that is. Good luck with your viewings and congratulations on your very shiny new medal.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hi Moo2,
Sorry that your holiday wasn't a success, at least you mad it back home again and the kids had a good time, so that's something I guess.
