It all does seem suspicious. And as other's have said...as they have tampered with the bike it is possible that they broke it themselves, or are pulling fast one.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

no way would i offer any refund or part refund. how do you know she wasn't doing donuts in her driveway when it happened?
Say, sorry no, but you have taken professional advice on the subject and she should have tested the bike in the first place if she had any doubts about it, and also her husband (is he a trained trike repairer?) took it apart.
I bet they come back and say they have managed to find the part for £45 and can get it fitted for a further £20 or something daft like that to get money out of you.
By saying you might agree to some repair cost discount you have just opened the door for them to extort money from you.0 -

A good offer for the buyer maybe. I, along with everyone else on here think you'd be mad to give a partial refund. She had the opportunity to check it out but didn't. Now come on, lets be honest here. If you had the opportunity to take a look at the item before parting with your hard earned cash who in the right mind wouldn't?!
Maybe i'm over suspicious but something just doesn't add up. I think the buyer is on the fiddle. Don't be intimidated. I would, at the very least would want to see the bike before giving refunds."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
We had a similar experience a few months ago, we sold a juicer and sent it bubble wrapped and in the original box we got it in. It was also a hard plastic jug one, not glass. The person who won the item, said it arrived smashed up and was kicking up a fuss over it being a present and I think she said she was a single parent... We asked her to take it up with Royal Mail as we were 110% that it left here in perfect condition. She said the box wasnt squashed, so I couldnt see how she worked out it was broken. We stood our ground and she left with leaving us bad feedback. Shame what some people will do.
Just ignore them I'd say0 -

I understand were your all coming from, but it is being sold through a seller with great feedback, and he has decided this is the best option, not me,i'd want it returned, but as my daughter is single parent, she does'nt want any hassle from buyer as they came to collect at her house....& i live 370 miles away from her so i can't do much:( so will keep you updated...as buyer is phoning Wednesday......thanks guys.... :T:T It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. :T

I did actually send a new, boxed item to a buyer which arrived with the item smashed, but the box and packaging was fine! The buyer was obviously not lying and was fascinated with how it had managed to happen!0
