If the wording of the policy us clear and detailed enough, they would settle instantly without the need for a court dispute. Confusing, ambiguous wording would put me off from choosing that policy.

I bought a scheduled airline failure insurance policy from www.protectmyholiday.com in October and not only covers my airline collapsing but my hotel and car hire including consequential loss if my airline collapses. We only paid £5 per person and it does not have a policy excess which i noticed other policies have. I spent time compariing covers and apart from policy excesses watch out for policies that have an 'insurers' cancellation clause and some require you to get 'written' evidence from the liquidator to make a claim which could take months to get if you get one at all.

    Hope this helps

Like the others I've seen so far, it Protectmyholiday does not cover the cost of buying tickets at short notice if your airline goes bust BEFORE you depart on holiday. It does cover repatriation to the UK. I'm currently reading through the Post Office Travel Ins leaflet in case their cover is better (and it would be one singe policy for travel mishaps, medical AND airline insolvency).

Yes, i asked this same question, and like other insurance policies you get a refund of the original ticket cost, the only main difference with this policy is there was no policy excess and more importantly if my airline did collaspse at the last minute i would get fully refunded for my purchased flight and the cost of my hotel and car hire which i would also loose under cover for consequential loss.

We have to accept insurance like any other form of protection does not cover 100% of every loss but the protectmyholiday.com cover seems to cover most things others do not.

Better than nothing thats all i say and i am not complaining at £5.
