Quick question re the universal £60 tax rebate

Is there a press release anywhere regarding the £60 tax rebate?? My husbands employer seems to think that I'm wrong!!! Not only does he not believe me, he's adjusted hubby's new tax code to 622L when it should be 603L - which I had confirmed by my tax office before I spoke to his employer.
Also, they tax office has his current tax code down as 543L, the correct code, but his employers are using 562L, how can they be using a different code without notification??
Thanks for your help - again.0 -
Can anyone advise me, as a higher rate (only just) taxpayer. My salary slip arrived today and I am exactly £120.00 down over previous months.
My tax code is K280 and is due to be K227 now although employer has still used K280 (has been this all year until notices went out from HMRC in August)
Can I assume that as I am higher rater I am paying for the government's 10p debacle in my Sept pay, and can I assume a return to normality in Oct/Nov pays !
Thanks..0 -

you're down because your employer is not using the new code.... so no, you can't assume you're paying for the 10% debacle, it's because your payroll department isn't doing it's job.0 -
Hi all,
After googling tax questions I came across this forum in the hope of finding an answer. I understand all tax codes within 'L' bracket were increased by 60 increasing employees personal allowance increase by £600. All of my collegues have received this yet mine is on 586L, an increase of 43 from 543L; just trying to make some sense out of it all, any reasoning for this?
Many thanks in advance.0 -
Hi can anyone help please?
I have been working as a temp all this tax year, but with only a few part time posts and so I have not paid any tax yet.
I am due to start working full time in a few weeks and I will then be earning enough to pay tax. My tax code is 543L.
Am I right in thinking that my code will just change to 603L and then I can earn 6035 (minus what I already earned this year) before I pay tax? or is there some other calculation for people not paying tax already this year?
I just want to check that I have not lost out on this £60 that people are talking about.
Thanks
MrsB.
It's only a game

If it's 543L presently it'd increase to 603L so you can earn more before paying tax. Tax at 20% on £300 would be £60. The other £300 is the £10/month extra other taxpayers will get from now to April.
You'll have an extra £120 in your pocket if you use up all your tax-free earnings allowance this year.0 -
I started a new job 5 weeks ago. For the first 4 weeks I was on a BR code. This week, I have moved to the 603L WK1. My tax for this week appears to be on the new rate for this week but I don't have the refund from the previous weeks this tax year.
Will this be repaid to me eventually, perhaps at the same time as the overpayment I have been making over the past few weeks?0 -

you probably ought to be on tax code 603L and not 603L WK1
ask your payroll people why.... did you give them a P45 from your last job?
Once you're on 603L the you will get a tax refund automatically0
