Hi cat... i think the point is that it is safe to do these things provided you are already doing them... i'm not sure how advisable it is to actually start these kinda things when you're already pregnant if you currently do no exercise at all....... different if you already are doing them or have an active exercise programme on the go already... Please tell me to mind my own, you might be a gym bunny already!!
I'm sure someone else will come along in a mo and say different anyway...
That said, aqua robics is supposed to be ace when pregnant as it puts no strain on joints....
probably best to speak to instructor of each thing you fancy and take their advice.... what is it with medical and health club receptionists? Megalomaniacs the lot of them!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
[ I've even found the rcog statement on exercise in pregnancy to say it is safe to do it (:mad:stupid cow at the sports centre gave me chapter and verse aobut it not being safe to exercise whilst pregnant. not one to take that lying down I've got my official evidence to shove in her fac
What! You are pregnant not ill! Most baths even do specific aqua fit sessions for pregnant ladies...
I need to decide whether to renew my membership (Kirklees) as my "pay for 4 weeks get 6 weeks" runs out on Friday..0 -
The new evidence says "all women should be encouraged to participate in aerobic and strength conditioning exercise...during their pregnancy"
Maz - You're right it is about being sensible; I work with loads of doctors who specialise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and they say to start an exercise regime but to do it slowly (15 minutes continuous exercise and build up to 30 minutes) and just be sensible about tiredness, pain etc.
It was more the attitude of the woman at the sports centre that no woman should exercise whilst pregnant that annoyed me so much. She made me feel bad, like I was endangering the baby even considering doing exercise so to have the statement (it's 7 pages long so a big statement) from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists really is one for me to wave in her face (and maybe blow a raspberry at her as well
)
I'm going to talk to the instructors before hand because part of becomming an instructor is being able to adapt programmes to fit the clients.

Hello all!
Just a quick post to say hello-have had nice morning so far-went to recycle loads (felt good to get rid of so much plastic in a 'Friendly' manner) and did the grocery shop for DH's watch at work (unfortunately, he said I didnt need to drop it off at the station-foiled again!) Then went round 'other house' and picked up some more bits. Then went to meet some friends for lunch and it was really lovely to see them. Now, Im having a quick brew and then off to sort clothes out in drawers and get DD room tidy once and for all-it's a BLOODY tip!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
I've been 'around' all afternoon, checking out codes and what have you........

also booked the train. Kicking myself for dawdling as they could have been sent First Class a couple of hours ago but they are no only going Special Delivery which cost me and extra £7.50. Ah well............
Wonder what the OH will say. I said this morning I wanted to come and I just got a non-committal 'ugg'.
Yesterday morning he started quizzing me why I'd had my tattoo done when I'm always saying I have no money. (fair question I guess) I explained that I'd used Quidco money, he wasn't very enlightened though as he doesn't ever use it. His comment was 'well you should have paid it off your mortgage'........yes dear........and I'll continue going mad within these 4 walls whilst you go to football practice and a beer (Wednesday), go on a corporate go-karting night (Friday), go to a birthday drinks night (Saturday) and go to watch football, then a few beers in the club (Sunday) and then your race day today I bought you.
I've got a shade over £300 tracking/verified with Quidco at the moment. If he whinges, I'm going to show him that.
