SC you sound very virtuous - I need some of that house focused energy
Ruby - I am glad you allowed yourself a treat - we had a treat tonight too. I took my DS to Pizza Hut and we talked just us two for an hour and a half. Kind of balances out a little with taking DD to see Hannah Montanna (partly funded by her) on Saturday...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

thats incredible well done, you must be very focussed on your debts which is a good thing, i would imagine money could easily run away with you when paying for all the wedding stuff, well done you :T
I need to work out how much i have paid back over the last 12 months ( cant believe its a year since I had my lightbulb moment) it wont be much because i am on a low wage and I am doing it on my own ( DH is in such a mess I cant help him till I have sorted myself out )
will pop back on when I have done the maths x0 -
well just checked my figures, I have paid off £5212 :j that is a little over the 12 months though as I had started paying it off before I joined, I am really pleased :T0

Well done SC on the debt repayments - that is stunning!
Well for those not up to date on my diary I start a new job Tues - for about 6 months but could be extended. I found out today I could go via an umbrella co which will boost my take home home by up to £90 a week by tax relief etc on my expenses which is really positive! I am going to still apply for other roles - esp perm ones!
Hope everyone else is okay?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

well done SH congratulations on the new job, I am sure you will enjoy it, any news on the other jobs? would you take them now you have settled on this one ?0

Congratulations SH, on the job. When I started working in my current organisation I started on a short term contract and have been permanent since about four months after I started so you never know!! I hope you enjoy it.
Cas, well done you on paying off a a large chunk of your debt, that is brilliant. Who would of thought we would all still be here a year later chatting??!!
HTGDF, make sure you enjoy every moment of your wedding and 6K is a good price isn't it compared to some weddings.
Well the bank holiday and half term break are here and I for one am pleased to be off work!!! I am looking forward to this week because DH has managed to get the week off and I can't actually remember the last time we were all off together!! We are at home for most of the week but are going to do cheap days out, then next weekend we are off to Haven near Brighton. We booked this at the start of the year using the sun holiday vouchers, I am a bit concerned that the caravan might be a bit grotty etc. but it is only two nights and the children are looking forward to it. Well the six yr old is, I can't really tell with the 14 yr old!! :rotfl:
The weather has been glorious here today although it is a bit grey now. Our city has a festival starting tonight and running over the next few weeks, so we our out tonight to watch the free opening ceremony. It is a high wire circus and about 2000 people are expected!! so should be nice. A cold drink and fish and chips for tea tonight I think whilst out and about!!
I am determined to not be too concerned by how much we spend this week, we have a limited amount of cash anyway and we could use a credit card if we wanted but I am thinking of setting a £100 limit on the CC spend. I think it is more important that we all get to feel we have had a nice week off and a bit of a holiday. We haven't used a CC since the last time we had to spend on the cars and that was Feb, so I am trying to keep it in perspective. What do you all think? Should I avoid spending on the CC at all. We just don't have the cash otherwise...... see I am contradicting myself already??!! arghhh.....
Whatever we do, I am determined for us all to have a break and have fun!!!
Thanks for listening again.....
