Hello everyone - I just won £5 from quidco's giveaway for play.com! Woo hoo. I also did a present count - I now have 15 of the 25 pressies I need between now and Jan! Be a bit boring when I've finished tho. Talk talk went live today so I should start saving £29! a month on combined broadband and phone!

Kids still doing packed lunches DS is a star and doing them. Had storecupboards meals not gone near McDs, the chippy or the carvery, result or what... Still so much more to do tho.... House still terrible. Someone knocked at the door I was wearing pjs at about 8pm having worn a posh suit all day - just complete contrast required sometimes. Felt very emotional today but it is that time....

Best wishes everybody for an MSE day tomorrow!

(help me to live with a teenager, we are only 6 months in and some days it is soooo hard).

Hi, and well done for getting into Martin's email!
I haven't managed to get very far into your thread without replying, have I? You wrote the above right on the first page. I was just getting interested in your 'story' and thinking about avoiding debt (just had a large and un-planned-for bill yesterday due to our dentist going private. Really need to sort out a cashplan or insurance...) anyway, I was reading and saw your comment on teenagers. As my DS is just a bit younger than yours you do have my sympathy! However, I have a couple of older teens (boy and girl) too and FWIW, in my experience the 12/13 year olds are the most difficult. They seem to go through a tunnel in which the real person is out of sight for a while, then they begin to reappear and you start to see the emerging adult, who doesn't necessarily resemble the 'teen' phase at all! In fact my older teens can be lovely people :)
So hang on in there, it doesn't last!
And keep up the good work with the finances too, it's inspiring to see how you have turned things round.

On a money saving note I got annoyed at DH last night as he asked if I had any of our weekly money left because he had spent all his!!!

My kids are forever wanting the odd few pounds - which of course mounts up in no time. I've been known to say 'Look in my purse' - not mentioning that there isn't much there, or that there is a tenner stashed in my jeans pocket, where I know they won't be looking!

If the money apparently isn't there for the taking, it sorts out how real the need is. ;)
P.S. don't let on about the jeans pocket or they will ask me to check there!

  • Hi Miggy (love the name by the way)
thanks for your posts. Good advice about the money, I will be doing that from today!! ;)

As for teenage boys, well some days he hardly seems to smile.... bless him. I guess his smiling is reserved for his mates and girls!! I still love him dearly though of course.

Dont underestimate what you have achieved so far honey, you are doing so well. As for the win, here's hoping it is the start of a winning streak, make sure you get a lottery ticket this week.
And PMT and such like that makes us all emotional all I can say is AGNUS CASTUS. It is brilliant have you tried it?

    Cas
I didn't dare watch the sex ed programme with DS - ha ha I can just imagine the response.....:rotfl:

I'm working from home today and have got loads done, so really pleased about that. Going to pop out and buy some nice soup to take to work for lunches in a minute. I know I should make it, but whenever I do it doesn't last long enough to freeze and take to work. So I like having a selection of soups in my draw to tuck into.

Better sign off for now. I hope you are all well and happy this mid week day!!

I'll be back.... (in the words of Arnie) probably tonight.
    xx

Hi all! Well we used a 50% off voucher and went to pizza hut today.... But as long as it's the last time this month - it's okay for the budget.

My cellophane arrived today so I can start using it on my hampers... still not convinced about it tho. We also changed to talk talk from yesterday (saving £29 per month) and photobucket is not working for me at the moment so can't post any pictures. Boo hoo! Hope I sort that soon or will have withdrawal symptoms.

Anyway bye for now - hope everyone is being very MSE.

Managed not to wear them today because it wasn't raining here - hurray , had freedom toes :T
Glad you had a good day Ruby and got lots done. I have far too many distractions at home to manage any work there, and thats when the family ISN'T at home lol.
I only got £40 for switching Cas, I'm jealous :(
Miggy - I have a secret drawer that they haven't twigged on yet - keep all cash I need in there so they can't get their mits on it. That includes DH!
Savingholmes you are so organised - I have nothing for Christmas yet - well, just one thing I'm going to recycle. I usually have the stocking type bits sorted out by now so am behind schedule. I make my cards whenthe DSs are on half term. It started by them making them but I seem to have full control of the glitter now :D
    Bye for now
    Belle
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.
