  • Hi Ruby,

I completely agree with you, what's the point of being debt free and miserable because you have no life. You defo have to have a balance. As long as you do it in moderation you do have to treat yourself every now and then. I'll be checking in to see how you get on!

thanks Pureaswhite, feel free to pop in anytime, the more the merrier.

The basket http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=309335&page=185-List of contents and details can be found here.th_retrosweets002.jpgThis was my sweet tin - really pleased with it!

I bought £30+ worth of stuff from Matalan earlier in the year - still going strong. I do think you have to get a balance in all this - and not spend stupidly but not get down to your last pair of jeans ideally either....

  • Aww, thanks Ruby! Feel better already!
Trying to remortgage which is a horrible process - feel like I'm being bamboozled all the time. Will soon be better though when it's all done. Am missing summer hols too - enjoyed being at home with children and just being able to do things at leisurely pace. Everything now is just hurtling through to next activity/job/etc

Hope all of you are refreshed after the weekend and ready for the fray!
:T Thanks again Ruby :A, really appreciate your good wishes

PS savingholmes your baskets look fab. I'm going to try knitting some bags I found in a library book called 'Big Knits' ( Good job it wasn't big nits lol!)
Haven't done any knitting for years, and when I did my mum was around to rescue it! Will have to find a group of friendly knitters here to help me out when I get all in a mess.

  • Hi YB, remortgaging is stressful, good luck with that. Our fixed rate has about a year and a half left so I am hoping to be in a very different position then.

I know what you mean about the missing the holidays, I am not properly back at work yet and I am missing them already!! I have spent the last 20 minutes putting harvest festivals, parents meetings etc in my work calendar so I don't forgot them. Not to mention the writing of cheques for things!!!

Off to bed now so that I can wake on time in the morning.... I hope your Monday isn't too stressful.

    Take care huni.

  • Hi Ruby, Cas, savingholmes and all
Feeling a bit brighter today re mortgage etc but think I've got your daughters bug Ruby!
Still managed a NSD and got through work etc. Don't think I can face cooking tea so the DSs will have to wait til DH comes home.
Hope your days were good too

  • Hi everyone,

YB Sorry to hear you are feeling rough, hopefully it will pass soon if it is the bug it seems to be 36-48 hours at the most. Get well soon!!! Perhaps you can blame the bug on the feeling down yesterday as well, yukky thing.

Well I made it through my first day back at work at it was fine and a NSD for me. (I am allowed to discount parking aren't I because it comes from a bugetted amount..... booo hooo).

Good day really, I have enjoyed being back. Off now to have some supper and a glass of wine.

I hope you are all well and that YB feels better tomorrow, if not a day off work is in order I think.

    LOL

Hello again all.... we all have off days - I usually blame it on time of the month - whatever time it is!

I was just doing a survey - and decided to crash out of it after 15 mins as I felt the questions were too detailed and too personal! Frustrating...There's a limit to what I'll do for money. I need to get some washing to dry - hard when you are at work and every space inside is taken up with drying washing - that and the need to put it away after. Why do so many jobs get done by women at home despite working! It's not fair, moan, moan, moan, moan. Deep breath. I've just earned a whole 25 piggypoints to add to my challenge total! And I've bought my first ever lot of cellophane for my finished baskets - £5!!!! Chose hessian gold it had better last a long time or it will be the last lot too!

Oh well I suppose I'd better go and do some chores - if you saw my house - you would say yes you better had!

Bye all have a great day tomorrow.

  • I'm sure your house is fine savingholmes - sometimes we see too much that others wouldn't notice. You are right about what working women have to do though - never stops!
Hope evryone had a good day and gets a good nights rest before we start all over again tomorrow - hurray!
