Sympathies re OH - mine at least doesn't smoke and to be honest spends less than me - but he is not actively helping. He is humouring me in this but only giving co-operation where he is backed into a corner and has no choice. He would dispute this... example. I wanted him to list some of our 6 crates of books on -ebay it being a 5p listing day... has he got off his behind? No. does he have accounts that will allow it while mine don't yes. ARgggggh!

  • Morning!!!
What is it with this weather??!!!

Well that is it both DD and DS are back at school today and today is my last day before the daily 50 mile round trip to work starts again next week. Kinda looking forward to going back, but not the stress of school drop and then having to drive to another city.

DH weekly payday today, so bank account looking healthy. Did Asda online shop yesterday and went nearly £10 (£69 and odd pence) over budget:eek: , so will have to try and cut back next week. The trouble is I have realised this morning I have forgotten things.

Anyway, a day to myself today I was hoping to do a bit of shopping bit the weather is awful so I am going to get the house spic and span and make the crumble I have been promising the children I will make all week!!

I hope you are all DRY and not having to be out in the rain too much.

    xx:D

  • Quick update,
I did a mystery shop last night and had another planned today but I have cancelled it..... feel a bit guilty because it was £15 :o but the rain is putting me off and the other things I need in town can wait.

So far this morning a friend has popped in for a coffee and I have updated the ASDA online order to add the things I had forgotten and taken out somethings so as to keep the cost the same!!

Going to do housey stuff now and be good.

(by the way I received an email on my work address about a SEVERE weather warning, this end of the country (down south), so don't intend to go out at all other than school collection).

Hi all - I've been busy on the Finished Baskets and gifts in jars thread today - I've made 2 journals in jars (12 ideas - pasted onto nice paper and tied up with ribbon)
    th_lifebeginsat40001.jpgth_teigneandmark002.jpg
    - really proud of myself.... I've also been doing some dreaded house sorting. OH and I exchanged studies in case we had a lodger - the idea was that I would then give up mine (where would all that craft stuff go). The lodger didn't materialise which is just as well seeing the current state of the house - and we are still swapping stuff. OH doesn't want to take all his stuff with him !!!! but has left mine on the landing and all over.... I can't move mine in with all his stuff everywhere. It's catch 22. Made some progress tho.

Did spend some money in instore today - but only went to one shop so that limited the spending. I've done an almost free present for a friend - Total new spend £2 but previous (a year or more ago) spend another £10. So she will be really chuffed. She's moved away and is starting a new job this week - so it's for that.

I've also started decorating my next gift in a jar (blue top nescafe bottle) with winnie the pooh raised gel stickers with a garden theme (piglet is disguising nescafe). I am then planning to use it as a garden journal in a jar for someone that is into gardening. She's foreign and doesn't understand anything about WTP !!!! and so I'm also giving her some of the WTP books in a hamper. It's her birthday and Christmas in the next few months... I've almost sorted one present, now working on the second.... I'm also thinking of giving her some retro sweets.... to help her fill in some of the culture gaps...

Taken DD swimming today, DS has played on Wii, OH spent most of the day in bed after gaming until 5am!!! and has now gone for a bike ride as you do:rotfl:

  • Hi Sistercas, Savingholmes and Wannabefree
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, been busy getting myself sorted out for work and trying to fight off the bug that DD had on Thurs and Friday.

Savingholmes, like you I have been reading and looking at the 'finished baskets' thread and I love the look of yours, what have you put in them? I have decided to do the following so far:

Sister and Partner: An after dinner tray, probably including some port (we have an M&S mini bottle in the cupboard, unopened), two port glasses, after dinner mints, after dinner quiiz questions, maybe some mini crackers. Haven't got any of it yet, but looked in Matalan today and get the tray and glasses for about £6.

Nieces - baskets with smellies etc.

Got two tubs in matalan today with chalkboards on the side, £3 each, so have decided to use them instead of stockings for my two this year and fill them with goodies.

I am guilty of having a spending spree today. I spent £55 in Matalan, mainly on clothes for me......:o :o I got a lovely pair of wide leg black winter trousers just the right length for £8, a lovely t-shirt for £3, £12 on necklace and bracelet, some stuff for DD and a lovely woollen sleevless cardigan that'll be great with a t-shirt under for work. I know it is naughty, but it feels great to be going back to work with some new stuff. It isn't on credit and DH doesn't mind at all. So not feeling TOO guilty. ;)

Sistercas and WBF, I love a freebie no matter how small. DH complained to virgin media today and they gave us a £60!! CR. (just about covers my spending... ha ha:rotfl: ).

This weekend has gone so very quickly!!

    How is everyone else doing?

    xxx

  • Hi Ruby,

I completely agree with you, what's the point of being debt free and miserable because you have no life. You defo have to have a balance. As long as you do it in moderation you do have to treat yourself every now and then. I'll be checking in to see how you get on!
