Also won £8.62 on bingo this week on a free bingo bonus - so good week from that perspective! I set out on the £10 a day challenge primarily to get money for pressies so really chuffed as I'm getting enough extra money from this to get people nice pressies and use some to pay off debt too!

SH those baskets are fabulous beautifully wrapped as well
thanks for the advice. Yes we have been honest about the debt with both girls and I think they understand to a degree. However its hard for them especially when their friends have these lavish parties ( limos and such like)and i think she thought compared to those parties this would be postively miserly.I hate that our poor ways of dealing with our money over the years is impinging on them. we didnt have a holiday last yr and I know the girls really missed it but they didnt grumble bless them. I just seem to say no all the time. I have talked to her and said she can have that party for her 16th ( next yr)

my niece has just given birth to a little girl this morning 'katie Rose' I had just completed a basket for the baby last night. i will try and post a picture of the basket later
well done on the £55 i found a quid in the washer:rotfl:

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww that looks really cute! Looks gorgeous...

Limos at parties....? wow my kids never get invited to those kind of parties... My DS went to a party yesterday - highlight fireworks... another possibility? I didn't even get a limo for my own wedding! Altho someone did drive a posh car for me but otherwise we intended to just use my dad's car....

My philosophy is kids may as well learn the facts of life about money now as when they are older they are unlikely to be able to afford £100+ parties either. Parties at my house if at all tend to be "bring and share"!!!:rotfl:

    All the best anyway.

Hi to everyone else including all the lurkers... Hope you're all doing okay? Especially Ruby, YB, IC and 1 step and SC of course....

Well I feel pretty down myself tonight... I think it's that lovely time of the month coming again and I'm really tired! One of my bingo sites has refused to pay out my winnings so I need to work out what to do next re that one... A few other things going on like major decision to make and some wider family problems leaving me feeling absolutely washed out!

    Hope everyone else is okay?

  • Hi everyone,
I'm very sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather YB & SH, (((big hugs)) to feel better soon.

SC, I love the baskets and gifts they look really good.

As for the birthday party, have you tried your local college? Would it be possible to take your DD and friends to the college beauty salon for an evening (ours is hugely reduced) and then back home for a dvd and non alcoholic cocktails.

Best of luck whatever you decide upon.

    xx
