How to meet a guy?

Hi just been lurking reading all the post's and i have no kids and am single, and my friend has 3 and is single im 28 she's 40 and we both have the same problem, we kind of want the perfect guy! even though were not perfect ourselves we still want that fairytale prince charming, but i find most guys i meet have children with an ex and i know this is selfish! :rolleyes: But don't want to be second best i want to be number 1! he he and would really like to settle down in the next few years and have children, and i honestly havn't been looking for the last 6months but still no luck as for my friend well she vowes never to let another man in her life! so as i have read all the post and just realise how different everyones lifes are differen't but we all would like to meet someone and be happy! :j

Had a quick flick through the thread and i can see some common themes.

Dating sites can work and no,they are not full of desperate people. Sure there may be many people who can easily be categorised, i.e divorced fems with kids, single fems who have spent too long looking for mr right who didnt turn up and now its almost too late (tick tock...),people who are or may feel generally unattractive,people who dont have confidence to socialise etc etc.

I can only speak for myself. I've lived alone for years and ive lived with others for years. I can do either equally and im not bothered which i do. If a relationship runs out of steam, I'll bin it. Sure if i felt the need, i'd use a dating site, I'm not desperate,, I'm mid 40s male,considered attractice,intelligent,good income. Relationsips for me are not all luvdup affairs of fairytales. They are shared space and time,shared finances,shared experiences and sure there is room for emotion but i dont let it rule the whole thing and i do not let anyone take advantage or sponge off me.

Of course dating sites can be problematic.

People tell little white lies, there are lecherous men on there,serial daters both male and female and people who are insecure and cant live alone. There are also the many women looking for Mr right,the perfect man who never exists just as the perfect woman does not exist. Inevitably they will never find him.
