Getting rid of Vista and installing XP

tech forums are full of people like me trying to replace vista with xp and everyone having problems
Same happens at every Windows release. People just don't remember and have gotten too used to XP because it's been around for so long now (longest shelf life of any Windows to date) and is getting so long in the tooth. I disagree with "everyone having problems", I'd even say the vast majority of people have no problems. I've yet to hear or see a single issue people have complained of that did not also happen with XP's release."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I know someone who has just gone back to win2000 from winXP because his processor and motherboard couldn't handle it. I am looking for a new motherboard for him (he couldn't handle the nix either he is not very computer savvy). The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Why bother installing an EOL product?
XP is going to be supported until 2014!!! Hardly end of line! :rotfl:

Several months ago I installed 98 on a computer because there were no native or third party drivers for XP for the motherboard. It installed and booted ok but the USB ports etc didn't work.
When I first got XP there were no drivers (and none were ever made) for my modem so I had to buy a new one even though the old one wasn't actually broken. And of course it took a while to get used to the interface (my dad to this day refuses to use My Docs and creates folders in the C: root directory)."She is quite the oddball. Vista works just fine for most home users now after the usual new system teething troubles. Another slightly more legit reason is that people upgraded without adequate RAM, Vista is a bit hungry, or they bought cheap computers without adequate RAM, I'd recommend 2GB+ for anyone buying a new PC / Laptop.
Most people I know who gave it a chance really like it now.
But if you hate it you hate it, XP is still a good system and has a few more years left in it.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Quite true.
Then what are you going to do in 2010 when Vista is superseeded by Windows 7 and you're completely unfamiliar with what changes it introduces..0 -

Actually that date is for Extended Support and has little to do with End of Life of a product which is generally end of sale and promotion. XP hasn't quite reached that yet it's true but we're talking within the next year at most."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

For the record, I have Vista and XP, and I prefer XP. Vista doesnt crash as much (or indeed at all upto now), but ive had LOADS of little problems crop up here and there. Media in particular has been problematic (and still is to a degree!). Literally lots of random problems though (Not just on mine but friends and families too).
And I know LOADS of people that hate Vista with a vengence..............:idea:0 -

I find that the people who claim they hate Vista don't know what they're doing with computers.
Simple fact, encountered daily..0 -
