Can I ask a dumb question please? Do we leave a gap then before the year for expiry dates? E: 06/05 2009 win....

yes you do if it needs one. Most comps dont need one really unless like someone started a comp yesterday for 31/08/09 then put it like E: 31/08 09

The most most important thing is to do a capital E followed by : then a space. so E: 01/01 that is what it searches on.

Also it is easier if people do the 0 so instead of 1/1 do 01/01 that also gets picked up in the search.

    thanks

its habit I guess with me that I tend to put the year as well as the day and month.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

I just done my own comps searching for 02/09 for the first time using the tips suggested on here and found it very helpful, so thanks to all. Once you get used to it its not that daunting. Thanks to divadee's hard work made it SO MUCH easier, so thank you.

Could someone please point me to a post that explains how to search using google as when I type for eg "02/09" it doesnt bring up a "list" which was what I was expecting. Im not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks.
  • Thank you so much divadee - makes it a lot easier for all of us now! :)

Go to google and put in

    "E:01/09" site:moneysavingexpert.com

Ive found over 600 comps in there, it was on the last thread, just tried to thank op who out it and cant :(

Found this, hope that helps x
  • I just read hte main post on this and i'm a bit confused, i did as was suggested, but it seem slike something is missing as i'm not getting a list of all the comps ending today - are you meaning we should do a search first or something?

perhaps you can rewrite the instructions in the closed thread to make it clearer as it really isn't that clear now. I'm sure it will be very useful but as it's completely new a step by step guide to doing it would be best i think.

i'm going to go experiment a bit, but just in case i can't figure it out would appreciate the instruction post to be amended to include directions on the whole process rather than just part of it. ta!

have tonight spent about 5 hours going through all the threads to change all the dates to the correct format.

The correct format from now on is E: 01/01 win....

The reason why we have done this as if you want to look for competitions in date order you can do this by using the above format and then going to display options at the bottom of the page and selecting sorted by 'Thread Title' and then selecting sort order 'Ascending'

This will help everyone who are catching up with there competitions and want to find a certain date.

If everyone sticks to this, it will make finding competitions by date 100% better for everyone
