Wasn't that the original question? :rotfl:
Indeed but so far the answers have mostly consisted of
'50% APR  Holy mother of penguins!, you've been 'ad luv'

Which, for the record I agree with, but I just don't see how it is technically possible for this to happen. (but then I know stuff all about tellys.) :o

So what's the answer then, or is this like spontaneous human combustion?

  • sounds intriguing so just done a little 'googling' - can't find anything specific but it sounds like quite a common problem on all sorts of LCD screens. Suggestions range from "stress fracture" which was initially unoticeable and when screen warmed up(?) it caused the problem.

From what I've read also, manufacturers are definitely aware of this type of problem so you should stand your ground and demand a replacement or your money back.

I dont want to sound rude but i didnt ask for financial advice nor did i ask you to question what i chose to do with my money! I asked if anyone new why the tv had suddenly done this and why.
In regards to getting a television of freecycle...Yes i could have taken that route but i have a daughter who has photo sensative epilepsy and was often having fits due to the television i had. After speaking to her consultant i was made aware that lcd tv's are more beneficial to epileptics and have been proven to cause less fits/episodes, I doubt very much i would get a 26" lcd television of freecycle.
Please if you dont have any helpful comments in regards to the original question i asked..Please dont post.

    Thanks.
To some extent, if you post a question on MoneySavingExpert.com then you can expect answers with a financial edge to them.

Sometimes answering the question asked isn't the most helpful thing to do. Maybe the problem is with the fact that what you have is a little-known make of TV. Maybe you'd be better off with a better make. It has been pointed out to you that you can get a better make for considerably less money.
I actually think that is a much better answer for you than someone who is a LCD TV expert telling you why it might have broken.

Thankyou all for the comments and advice so far, It is very much appreciated.

lotto-dreamer im so glad you have come up with a solution, I literally thought i was going mad...one minute were watching tv and everythings fine then next minute we look at the tv again and the screens cracked!?

I phoned the company first thing this morning (they was closed sat eve/sunday day)and they said they would send an email to the area manager, So i am now waiting for a phone call.

I really wish i could afford to go out and buy the television straight up but i really dont have the funds to do so. Ive just had to buy 4 full school uniforms plus am trying to get some money together because we are due to move within the next few weeks.

I would have normally saved for the tv but my other tv was setting of my daughters epilepsy to much and i really didnt want to make her suffer any more then was neccessary and so when my mother in law told me about buy as you view i thought it was my best option for now.

Can I suggest that you try no TV for a while?
I know we'd find it really hard, but it might do you all the world of good.

Then save like mad while you're doing this and go for the £250 one when you can afford it. Would make it so much cheaper in the long run. Means you'd have more money to spend on your daughter...
