New tv has just broken!!!

Options
Hiya,

I had a new xenius 26" lcd teleision delivered this morning from buy as you view. Two men came in and set it up and everything was working absolutley fine.

Me and my husband have just been sat on the sofa watching the new tv when there was suddenly like a crackling then a popping sound! We looked at each other then looked back at the tv and all the left hand side of the screen has got cracks going every where and at the bottom of the screen it looks like its been kicked/punched or something thrown at it? Sorry not quite sure how to explain it, Its the first lcd tv ive ever had and have no idea what is wrong with it. Is this a manufacturers problem? Has the tv over heated? Nobody has been near it so i have no idea what is going on.

Any help is very much appreciated.

unplug it, ask for a refund/cancel contract. Buying stuff like this is very expensive.

Yes it is expensive but in my world it is the only way i can afford to buy a new tv.
  • Contact who you bought it off and get them to replace it

It's catch 22, if you pay 50%+apr on everything, you will have far less to buy stuff without the credit. People are throwing working TV's away nowadays

Why would anybody pay 50% APR on a new TV?

Well surely the SOGA applies here and also I assume you got it via credit then they are equally liable for the debt

I dont want to sound rude but i didnt ask for financial advice nor did i ask you to question what i chose to do with my money! I asked if anyone new why the tv had suddenly done this and why.
In regards to getting a television of freecycle...Yes i could have taken that route but i have a daughter who has photo sensative epilepsy and was often having fits due to the television i had. After speaking to her consultant i was made aware that lcd tv's are more beneficial to epileptics and have been proven to cause less fits/episodes, I doubt very much i would get a 26" lcd television of freecycle.
Please if you dont have any helpful comments in regards to the original question i asked..Please dont post.

    Thanks.

The brand of TV that you have is unheard of as far as I am aware, quite simply, get the company back to repair/replace it.

They are charging " Rolls Royce " money, they should provide a " Rolls Royce " service.;)

hmm.. i buy something.. it breaks with in a day... i personally wouldn't dream of posting on a forum to ask such a simple question..

it has a guarantee, so therefore that comes straight into play, and just complain, say it is faulty, and get another one through..

and it is expensive, for something that you could buy for less than £300...
