Evening all:j :j Well unlike you lot I haven't done much OS today except cooking teas, and washing up.Went to the car boot this morn and got a nearly new baby bath and gorg baby bouncer for next to nowt, as well as some cute boys clothes, as my mate is having a boy in Jan so if DD isn't having one she can keep them:D
This afternoon took the doglets and DD for a nice walk and ended up at the icecream parlour, had a double cinder toffee cone:p :p:p:p DD made herself sick with the double choc one :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Dad went to cricket today with his mates, so I left him to it as didn't want to cramp his style;)
Anyway i'm gonna try and have an earlyish night tonight as I also haven't been sleepin well lately:o
HUGGLES to all in need today xx

Evening all... just realised it would be working again. Huge hugs to everyone and thankyou for your support. It was very cathartic getting everything off my chest yesterday and I'm feeling stronger again. I've actually got quite a bit done today. Old style is my 'coping mechanism' when I'm coming out of a slump.

The garden is looking okay, we have an abundance of carrots, spring onions, peas, beans, cucumbers and lettuces. The sweetcorn are swelling up nicely and the peppers are starting to form. But the tomatoes just don't want to turn red, the female squash flowers are out but there's no sign of any males to pollinate them, and the squashes also seem to have aquired powdery mildew. I've sprayed it with milk but I've got no idea if it's going to do anything apart from make the beds smell sour :rotfl:

Dave is quite a lot better now so he went and picked a mass of brambles and defrosted the ones we'd already picked to give me something to do while he went fishing. I've started 3 gallons of wine, made two bottles of jam and am drinking my homemade bramble cordial. It's delish with water and with lemonade, but it didn't go too well with vodka when I experimented and it's probably rotting my teeth as I speak:o I've I've still got a couple of pounds left and am trying to think of something else to make - I'm considering bramble chutney (there's a recipe in the lakeland catalogue) but I'm not sure we'd ever eat it, and I don't know anyone who'd want it as a present, so it could end up being a gigantic waste. I have also thought about blackberry and apple leather from the river cottage book, but our apples aren't really ready yet.

I also need to hatch a plan for cooking a topside of beef tomorrow. It was a whoopsie, £3 from £12 and huuuuge for just two of us, especially since I'm not keen on it myself. So far I've got as far as deciding to bung it in the slowcooker.

Other than that, I failed to take advantage of the weather and get any laundry done, which is doubly bad because it's all piled up a bit in the last week or so :o Luckily Dave has plenty of work clothes for Monday because he's been off so long. I'm really going to miss having him around the house.

Celyn, :grouphug: rows are never good. When I was working full time and Dave didn't do his fair share I used to play him at his own game and not to any of the chores either. But that was probably a bit of a drastic ploy... still, it worked, eventually! The only good thing about being home all the time now is that the division of labour got a whole lot easier.

    Evening everyone :hello:

Godd to see you all had productive days. :p

I'm not a great Saturday poster anyway so it wasn't too strange for me.
Did some baking this morning, more muffins and a banana loaf which I lifted out of the tin too soon so it broke.
The girls were at a friend's for the afternoon so OH and I took advantage of the time alone together....................to go to the dump. :rotfl: Managed to get rid of all the junk that was in the back yard and came home with a beautiful wooden painted planter which he found on a skip. :j

Cooked steak baguettes for tea as we were going out on the boat. Her inaugural journey wasn't a huge success as one outboard didn't work but the other one took us slowly round the bay. There were lots of seals in the water which amused the girls but they were obviously eating all the fish as OH and I didn't catch a thing. I got soaked right up to my boobs :o helping OH get the boat out of the water so I'm dried off in my jammies now and eating a family sized bar of Galaxy which he bought me as a reward for, and I quote..... "not being too much of a girl in the water"

Beemuzed. I'm glad your son is a little better
Blairwich. That tingly happy feeling is great. Enjoy it. :D
Glad you had a good day out Pixie.
Eat the rest of the cake Stef. That's an order. ;)

    Sleep well everyone

If it's calorie free I shall be eating it all myself thankyou. :p

I'm just trying to convince OH that he needs to make me a cider press out of some old clamps and melamine he has in his shed. :D I can't repeat what he said because this is a family forum.:o

My main disaster was in dying Miss Twit's hair.....she chose the colour and it's a little darker than she wanted [strike]goth black [/strike] a lovely colour though *ahem* made worse by the fact that I couldn't get on here to find out how to strip out the colour.

    .

oh dear - well if she chose it ...... I'm told that head and shoulders can calm things down a bit. i lost my balance today and managed to stick a paintbrush in my hair - dd(23) nearly peed herself when she came in and saw it

ok HJ if you insist - it's really nice actually and i'm sure contains some of my five a day - although not as much as carrot cake obviously
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

Haribo.....DS3 went fishing in Dun Laoghaire and we had some lovely fresh mackerel for dinner....hoping that he will take his boat out more often...he hurt a rib so hopefully he will wait until he recovers to go again.

Nice to be able to sit here all night browsing if I want to....

  • Just posting my first post before I go to bed

Well, dear heart yesterday surprised me. He popped into Makro for some gaviscon. He couldn't buy gaviscon there as he wasn't 'trade' as in he works for a company and doesn't have a shop (I think) but he did buy a Tefal slow cooker/rice cooker/steamer/ porridge maker thingy. He got a discount, at the moment they are normally £34.99 (+ VAT of course) but he managed to get it for £24.99 (and the VAT) - he did explain but he didn't explain his explanation.

And I have a Remoska on order!

So tomorrow we are using the Tefal thingy to do something creative with rice to go with the cold beef I have left over from tonight. I think that the rice may be on the menu a lot for a while. And steamed things - the recipe booklet was a bit sketchy. I'm wondering about steamed puddings, but you are supposed to be able to do them really easily in the microwave. I can't remember the last time I used the microwave for anything but to heat up milk! I do heat up milk every day, however, for little bear's morning porridge, so I suppose it is earning its keep that way :o

Little bear is starting to get the hang of throwing tantrums. I must try not to giggle, I don't think it helps. On the whole, he is still a happy little bear and sleeping a lot better now. I am half tempted to cancel the visit to the Health Visitor, but I suppose it will be really good for me to go, so I shall.

Evil cat is not a happy evil cat, as I have moved her dinner dish as part of a clean up in the kitchen. She tried to steal the mesh that was round the meat joint earlier - if I hadn't confiscated it she would still be chewing now.

Silvercharming - the people on here are so lovely, and I am glad you and Dave are feeling better. Have you considered bottling the blackberries (I have no recipe :o) or perhaps preserving them in rum? Blackcurrants are supposed to be very nice in rum, so why not blackberries? On the Welsh Borders you used to be able to buy a very nice blackberry and apple liqueur, but I am not sure about the base. Brandy?

Hugs to all, and I look forward to posting tomorrow.
