OD Daily Saturday 30th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 30th of August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Peeps

i know that todays thread will be short lived with the forum being down from 9am and i did wonder about the daily but i thought that we should still have one :D

I never managed to post again yesterday but did catch up with the thread and have just read the last part now.

Jannyannie - Hope that you enjoyed legoland, i used to love lego as a kid.

Silvercharming - I read your post yesterday and i think that you are very brave managing to push the post button. Everyone here is your friend. We come here to share good news and bad news, to have the occasional rant and for help and support as well as a good old laugh.
I`m sure that i speak for everyone when i say i feel honoured to count you as a friend. ((((HUGS))))

Squiddly - did you try the french loaf?

Well i did it again, woke on the sofa fully clothed, i really wore myself out yesterday.
I have a wonderful very attractive groove right down the middle of my forehead ( stop laughing:naughty: ) I went blackberrying with the doggies and was happily picking away and never noticed that some old wire netting was bent in between the shrubs with a big rusty piece of metal sticking out from it.
Good job it was the forehead though and not my eye  the groove is about one and a half inches long and bled for quite a while:rolleyes:
Oh and i also have a thorn or something stuck in my hand which is now swollen and rather painful, i`ve just put a plaster on it to see if i can draw out whatever it is, very productive morning don`t you think :D

I spent the rest of the day doing those horrible messy jobs that get put off lots of times so i cleaned the outside drains, cleaned the nasty kitchen mosaics and a radiator, scrubbed mould off a wall that we`ve noticed may be damp so it`s easier to see if it comes back - hope it`s just condensation:eek:

I read a few weeks ago about cleaning the washer door seal, since i didn`t know that it should be done and i`ve no idea how i set down and did it.
Ugh what a nasty job, the stuff that came out was disgusting and i`m now wondering if i should get a new door seal or not.
I also got the drain thingy cleaned - it says in the book to do it once a year but i`ve never done it.
The only time i`ve looked at things like this on a wm is if i know something is stuck inside which shouldn`t be there:rolleyes: the drain was a revelation and i`m surprised that the wm worked at all. I hope that i`ve found out where the intermittent leak is now and have fixed it.
On a more positive note i found allsorts of information in the wm book and have worked out how much it costs to do each wash on my electricity tarriff.
I must say that it was a pleasant surprise, having read somewhere else how much someone elses washer was costing to do a load i was quite shocked and assumed that they would all be the same. Glad i was wrong:D

The doggie beds are just spinning as i type and i shall put our bedding in shortly so i shall have a full line today, the dw and bm is on but i fell asleep without putting everything into the slowcooker so that will go on tonight.

I shall be taking dad shopping later today, he seems to be pottering around ok now and is walking in the supermarket without his crutches as he can get by just holding onto the trolley which is good to see.

Off to empty the wm now, i may even get over to the gas and leccy board before the forum vanishes for the day.

Have a sunny Saturday everyone!

    Morning morning! :hello:

Today's DH's first day of holidays! :j A whole 9 days I'll have him to myself!!! Well, mostly, as MIL has "pencilled" herself in for half of them

Sunnyday, laughing and thinking about your face-groove. In my country we say someone is putting up an "a s s face" (meaning a long face). I guess you literally have one today!!! :rotfl:

Today should be bathroom cleaning day, which usually falls on Friday but I could not be bothered yesterday... Girls, give me strength!!!

Have a lovely Saturday, this place will probably shut down before I get to post again.

    Morning folks!

Just been woken up by 4 baby calves outside my gate - they are sooooo noisy!!I don't mind at all though - can't think of anything nicer to be woken up by to be honest :)

Today I am going to a local college to see about a day release course _pale_. Don't know what I will do after that as the forums will be down. Maybe I will have to c...c...c.....CLEAN my house!

Anyway, hope you all have a great day

Edit: Make that 4 calves outside my gate. Had to help get them back in

Good Morning! Guess this will be a short thread today! Didn't post yesterday, but thanks for all the good wishes for DS. Visited him yesterday in hospital. Still in loads of pain. Not sure if the pancreitis is acute or chronic - and reading it all up on the internet isn't doing me any good at all! Either way, alcohol in future is absolutely out. Easy to say at present, but going to be hard to stick to I think.
Well, what shall we do all day? My house is already pretty clean and tidy for once (just wait until school starts next week - it'll soon be back to its normal chaotic state!)
((HUGS)) to all in need today.

Good morning, all! I don't know what I'm going to do while MSE is down today (I do have some cleaning and meal planning to do, as well as my cross stitch...) Hope everyone has a good day though. I'm still feeling a bit full of cold, but at least I got a good night's sleep, more than usual, at least.

Here's to a good day. :) ((((hugs)))) to those in need, and congratulations to those celebrating. :)

  • Morning all,

SunnyD, yes we should definitely have a daily, although as MSDiva said last night, it will probably crash tonight when we all try & get on here... (to boast about how much we've done as we weren't on here, lol...!!) I didnt' do the french loaf yesterday, (too many distractions) but I am going to put one on this morning as I want to do carrot & creme fraiche soup for lunch. Hope your face isn't feeling too sore :( you have been in the wars. I want to go & find some blackberries to pick.

I was so cross reading about some of the District Nurses - those who have had problems should put in a proper complaint if possible. As someone else said last night (sorry can't remember who..) they should not be having access to vulnerable people with that attitude. Why on earth are they in the job??? It's a form of abuse.

Blairweech, how lovely being woken up by calves :) Good luck at college.
Webitha, hope you manage to catch up on some sleep - or even if you just put your feet & up and relax.
    Mellika, enjoy your OH ;)

Well, I learned from my cat last night - definitely DO NOT kiss frogs/toads....!!! So that's where I've been going wrong.....
(she's fine this morning, no foaming at the mouth & demolishing her breakfast - obviously just needed to make me panic!)

Anyway, have a good day everyone (we'll all be on facebook instead, lol!) I may make another handbag organiser :)
(((((((((((((9hugs)))))))))))) for all those needing them.
