Frazzmunch Fights Back!!

Ooh, sounds scary!!:D

I have failed miserably on my last quest to pay off my 1k cc in twelve weeks...(see thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=931645 ), due to a combination of factors...mainly my car needing a major amount of work over £400, my dh MOT costing over £300, my 40th birthday, my sons 20th birthday and a new TV (okay, that one was totally unnecessary and definatley not DFW, but it was sort of a birthday present to myself :o )

I am sick of it...and really sick of myself...and have decided that I have to take the bull by the proverbial horns and smash my way back into solvency !!

However, this month is going to be one from hell... have to pay out for my cars MOT, my dd birthday, filling my heating oil tank and vast amounts of petrol for work...I am a few hundred pounds short of what I am anticipating having to pay out and recent disasters (plus my stupidly expensive bday pressie) have meant that I have no emergency cash fund and my 1k cc is back up to its limit

Have decided that perhaps the main thing is to not wring my hands feebly and get a taxi back to misery street, I have to stick to spending as little as humanly possible until next payday so that I can minimise the damage...I have twenty days to survive on next to nothing...serves me right!!:rotfl:

Once I get to next payday, I have to get back on the 'adhering to plan' wagon, even though that has changed....I have to replenish my emergency fund now before I can start on the debts..

I am currently formulating my next twelve month debt reduction plan which I will implement in Jan 09...I think that since my original LBM I have changed the way that I think about my debts but haven't really managed to clear anything yet, despite the fact that I have a few debts which are really quite small....has anyone else found that they have had a long period of time between deciding to tackle their situation and actually achieving something concrete? Or is it just me???:o

Anyway, I will update frequently with how I am getting on and will have the emergency fund back up to full whack and the 1k cc paid off by the time January comes around!!! Welcome to hell!!:rotfl:

Just had to have a look in. I love your name frazzmunch!

I kind of know what you mean about there being a lag between wanting to do something, and seeing action. It usually seems to me that I realise things are going wrong about halfway through a month, then have to wait til I get paid, and then til the end of that month, before it seems like things are any better.

Even so, you definitely need to keep us updated!

  • never rains but it pours.....!!!! Got a phone call on Saturday from dlc insisting that i increase my payments..... not a nice call, i got quite stroppy on the phone, i have an agreement with them that i pay £19.79 per month but have been paying £25 for ages, then they phone up and want me to increase the £25!!! Pointed this out and told them that there is no way i can increase it as I am paying over the agreed amount anyway and they are now threatening a charging order....told them to get in the queue!! :D So, discussed the CCA...she had no idea what i was talking about  just continued to threaten me with court action....told her 'go ahead, you have two weeks before the account will be in dispute and you get laughed out of court!!' Feel better for that and am sending the 12+2 letter by recorded delivery today :D

anyway, hope your weekends were better than mine....welcome to september :rotfl: (can't wait till its over!!)
  • cca request has gone in....almost forgot the £1 postal order though!!! Just about to look at my bank balance so thought i would post before i sink into despair!!:rotfl:

car has mot tomorrow....scared about the cost of that but at least i will know where i stand....this is proving to be the longest month in history!!
  • I know what you mean about it pouring, but having had a similar run of bad luck, all I can say is hang on and you WILL get through.

  • okay...not as bad as i expected !! car went through mot at £100 so not a bankruptable amount...:D can't believe how relieved i feel:T !!!

have managed to get my -£600 this month down to - £200 so hopefully i can do some more 'paring' to see how close i can get to a positive balance!

have received a letter from dlc in response to my cca request...they don't have it and are asking egg for it... i will be posting it on the cca request updates thread tomorrow....

have only another 12 days to survive before next payday and then i can breathe a sigh of relief!! Have decided to have a minimum of 9 nsd's within this period, seems a lot but if i don't i will be heading towards financial disaster

    anyway, i hope you all have a great weekend....but don't spend!!:rotfl:
  • have posted letter on cca request update thread...awaiting replies on that!!

have decided today that i am now eleven days away from payday, so other than £10 which i will use for milk/bread/veg, no more spending on groceries until payday!!

i am doing an inventory of freezer and cupboards for eleven days food and will keep any petrol spending to an absolute minimum (unfortunately we have no option than to use two cars....wish i could fly :D !!!)

will post once i have decided on food for the next 10 days....

i have decided that i need to set myself a real challenge between now and christmas...i am almost a year on from my lbm and don't feel that i have acheived that much....i am happy to look at the first year as a learning curve, and i have definately learnt an awful lot from being on this site!!! I have also learnt alot about my spending habits and disasters, not to mention the things which seem to throw me off the straight and narrow....:rotfl:

so, after the next 10 days are out of the way, i have three more paydays to get myself straight and ready for the next 12 months....what do you have to acheive by then??
