abbey zero card - get one, get another one free !!

i recently applied for and recieved by abbey zero, and was given a nice £9.2K limit, which i duly called them to set up my BT's immediately and am happy as larry.
then a few days later i got a letter with the signature form again asking me to sign to complete the application. Having already done this once and got my card i thought it a little unusual but did it anyway.
today however i got a second card in the post, complete with different account number, and different limit of £8.7k, but still in my name.
i rang to activate it and to do another BT (why not!) and was told that the BT's entered in the online application form have already been done.
checking my virgin statement i can see that one has, i am just waiting for egg to confirm the second. this would mean that this second card relates to my original application, and the first one somehow is the "spare".
if this is all true, then it would appear i now have 2 cards with almost 18k limit on zero % for 6 months.
anyone else had this happen? i would say this problem, but its a bonus not a problem really.

I bagged 2 x £13K cards under similar circumstances a few years ago.

I even bagged a pair of repeat offers 9 months later, before they insisted on me closing one card down when they saw it had a zero balance.
Oh happy days!0 -

Well personally I wouldn't be drafting a letter to their complaints department just yet.
They are becoming known as (Sh)Abbey on this forum, but it would appear that their lack of organisational capabilities have worked in your favour in this instance :beer:0 -
I received my Abbey Zero card a couple of weeks ago, and I received a letter today saying "We are waiting to send you your card but still need your signed forms so are enclosing a further copy for you to complete..." etc
Since I have the card already and have done my BT, I was going to ignore today's letter, but based on your experience rockrat, I may as well see if I can snaffle a second card. Fingers crossed.0 -
Sorry to go o/t, but how long did it take for them to send the card after you'd sent the (first!) forms back?
I posted mine well over a week ago and haven't heard anything since0 -

Sounds like a crossover between documents so I wouldn't send anything back.
This may sound terrible to rockrat but if two seperate accounts have been opened, in my very rare experience of witnessing these things, one card is usually blocked, if it hasn't been already and any BT's will be recalled soon afterwards so you just have the one card. That may happen here. Abbey might offer rockrat a higher credit limit on the other card to stick the seperate BT's on (that's happened before) but I couldn't guarantee that. All I can advise is keep quiet about it and hopefully you won't have any problems at least until the six months is up.0 -
1) What's the minimum monthly payment on this?
2) Is this card issued by MBNA? I seem to think they used to service Abbey cards
3) Are credit limits generally good? the ones quoted above are worthwhile but reports on the other Zero thread are all consistently low - on the Abbey basic info page it says "not suitable if you want to borrow a significant amount", suggesting only low credit limits are offered.
4) Easy to stooz to a current account? (no, I wouldn't be leaving it there ) Or can you only BT a real debt to them? You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -

2. No, it's run by Santander Cards Ltd
3. Can't answer yet (applying in branch as soon as the September CRA update is done and I've lost some debt/available credit, but I'll be requesting a £15K BT)
4. They withdrew SBT capability a month or 2 ago. Do you have Egg Money?0 -
I also applied for a £15k Balance Transfer, however I only got a £5k limit. But this could be due to the outstanding debts that I have elsewhere.
Still £5k at 0% for 6 months with no fee is better than nothing :beer:0 -

I'm waiting for an existing card paying out bonus points so I can cancel that within the next couple of weeks (hopefully)

You have 0% purchases for six months on the Zero too. No fee for withdrawing cash (but you get interest), no fee for using abroad (forex). BT is probably your main offer target I guess but there are other benefits.0
