Stretching leather shoes?
Comments

reviving thread...
ok, I've put my shoe in the freezer with water in. How long do I need to leave it? Overnight?0 -
I bought them through mail order and sending them back would cost a lot.
Are there any tricks to stretch the leather a bit?
I've never had this problem before!
I wouldn't buy shoes thru mail order but we live out in the sticks and also I have 2 toddlers so going shopping isn't easy!
many thanks for any suggestions"Finish each day And be done with it.

Roll newspaper into balls (proper newspaper, not glossy stuff), wet the newspaper and shove it down into the toe area. Make sure it's tight, use as many balls of paper as you need. The damp newspaper will cause the leather to loosen a little.
They need to be left like that, so certainly overnight. Might take a few goes to get them how you want them.0 -
Years ago my Mum used to work in a shoe shop which had a 'shoe stretcher' They used to go out the back with the shoes and stretch them over a broom handle! Apparently it worked a treat!0

Fill a couple of plastic 500ml bottles nearly to the top with water. Screw lids on TIGHTLY. Shove down in shoes as far as possible - wrap up well in plastic & shove in freezer.
The water expands as it turns to ice & will stretch the shoe.

Maybe get someone a couple of sizes larger to walk around the house in them for a while?
I don't think it'll work, but might be fun

I can honestly say that when I was younger my Dad used the wet newspaper trick and it worked but the ' get the OH to wear them while watching TV' trick worked too so you have 2 options! HTH0

Go to a Cl**k's shoe shop and ask for 'leather stretcher spray' it works on all types of shoes, costs about £2.50 and comes in a small aerosol spray.
It does what it says on the tin. I spray the shoes and stuff them very hard with newspaper.
I have dreadful feet and this stuff makes any shoes wearable.
Smells good too.
