Spent 37.50 on groceries, so now have $362.50 left in budget. Was good and stuck to list and didn't buy junk food. Only deviation was buying a heap of long life organic soy milk as it was 80 cents off and is a staple in my house as it is 1 of the few soy milks OH likes. Am going to a farmers market on weekend, so will stock up on vegies then.
Off now to try and work out how to add a signature:confused:

    Hi everyone.

Have not posted much the last few days. If you remember in July my BIL died, well on Thursday I got a call to say that my brother had been admitted to hospital, and at 5pm on Friday he peacefully passed away. Not been a good year. Thanks AngelNikki and Mrs Mac for all you do:A

Hope everyone has a good month.

Sashanut.. when I have milk that needs using up I have started turning it into white or cheese sauce and freezing it in tubs ;) great for making quick pasta bakes, cauli cheese etc -I have 6 tubs in the freezer :p
I have never Know the milk defrost lumpy though

Thanks for the advice all - I'm thinking there is something wrong with the little freezer we got from Freecycle & that's why the milk is lumpy?? If it's not at a low enough temp then it might result in this whey/white lumpy stuff? It happened with both the Cravendale & these 6-pinters of fresh milk, so I'm guessing, anyway it looks vile, as if it is sour - & shaking it doesn't do the trick sadly. Will certainly do the white sauce thing, I need to get that freezer emptied & chucked out & also the iced-up one in the cellar......

Posh do last night was OK, altho perhaps I should have worn some long gloves to cover up the blackberry scratches on my arms :rotfl: On our table we had 2 x mulitmillionaires & a lottery winner......& the meal was pants (!) .....on the bright side tho we didn't have to buy a round, the wine was free all night, pretty late night for all of us. Then was woken up this morning at 6.40am by the organic box delivery grrrrrrrr:mad: First delivery from Abel & Cole - I never thought because the van is only on the top road that we'd be the first call - ah well that's the end of that as DH really objects to being woken up at that time. The amount of fruit & veg is massive since I got a 'free' box as recommended on here Thank YOU:T

Have a good day all, at least I am up early & hopefully get some stuff done if I'm not too tired....:D

    Hi everyone

Last weeks of the summer holidays have flown by haven't been on much and don't know what my chances of reading all the posts so far!!

Philsmum sorry to hear of your loss :grouphug:

So far have done an Aldi shop, small top up at Co-op, small top up at local Mr S and big Mr T delivery- can't believe how much it adds up to- ran out of stuff but didn't want to do a Tesco shop till cheaper delivery days think that shows me hanging on to save £1/ £2 on delivery is false economy

Angelnikki thanks for your costings on bread- got a couple of those Hovis mixes and have used the bm again- oh very impressed especially as value bread up to 45p!!

Need to pop and buy a few bits that didn't come in Tesco shop- their substitutions were v. expensive orange juice, dishwasher tabs and spread. Cheap veg delivery coming tomorrow so will need to do some menu plan tweaking I think

Right better get on with breakfast etc, big kids back at school today

I have just realised I will be on holiday (budgeted for) from 12-19 Sept so my GC budget is amount of £100 is really wrong as it's too high
Not quite sure what to do
I could take the 8 dys off I suppose (having taken out cat's allowance) and go for a lower total.

    Any thoughts?
  • NSD for me yesterday, today I just need some green veg as I don't have any in for dinner this evening and I have a craving for cabbage.

I've taken some 'mystery' meat out of the freezer for dinner tonight, I think it's pork, I'll have to wait until it defrosts and then decide what to do with it.

    Have a good day everyone.
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead
  • Morning all, just popped on to see how everyone is doing - not had chance to catch up to hugs to those who need them, hi to all newbies and congrats to those doing well... :D

Have done my meal plan for the week and will update siggy soon from shopping Saturday but must admit to having a KFC last night as didn't have time to put SC on in the morning (knew I should have got everything ready the night before  ) and we were both really pooped when we got in and feeling very lazy - checked freezer and although full to the gunnels, nothing took our fancy - it was just one of those days I think, so off we trundled for fuel and food... feeling very peeved with myself for giving in but as we haven't done this for an absolute age I am not going to beat myself up about it and will resolve to do better next time... (we used to have about 3 takeaways a week and now I wonder how on earth we ever paid for it - no wonder we're in debt! )
