Hi there, just a quick hello to say that I came in at £260.17 for September, I had been aiming for £250 but as Mum came to stay for 10 days think I did really well. Am aiming for £240 in October so I'll watch out for the new thread. Good luck to all those still working through to the end of the month.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Just totalled up my spending - and only £17.10 left. When does the September challendge end? I will look out for Oct and any spends this weekend will go in Oct budget. Hopefully I intend to stick to £250.Jane 21120

Hi Jane,
The challenge normally ends/begins on the 28th of the month. Having read all the posts by people who have already finished for September I'm wondering if it should maybe start a little earlier.
If anyone has any thoughts on this please post on this thread:

I am going to have to change my October budget to £280. Did a rough budget earlier and it came to about that. Hoping to get it lower but would rather overestimate to start with. I'm going to start it on the 1st October.0

Looking at receipts I think that I have spent around €280 this month, still lots in freezer, fridge and cupboards, so will declare at €280 for September and can I be put down for €300 for October please?
Good luck to all

This will be my first grocery challenge. As I've never done it before, can anyone suggest a budget for me. I've just got myself to look after. I'm fairly good at cooking from scratch too, so I'm off to look at the recipes.
Suggestions please......1st GC Oct 08-£100/£6.130 -
Good luck to newcomers and I hope everyone else is doing OK, sorry I haven't been able to keep up recently but I am still doing the grocery challenge
So far this month I have had 17 no spend days and I am hoping not to need anything else this month as the cupboards, fridge and freezer are all still full. I have bucketloads of apples and potatoes from the garden, so the freezer is stuffed full with mash and apple sauce, plus I'm gradually using up all the frozen stock for soup, as the weather has been so awful. I have loads of leeks and it looks as thought the onions and beetroot are doing OK, plus I have full tray of tomatoes that are slowly ripening in the window. The first of the home grown peppers are turning red and I am STILL getting salad leaves from the tub at the back door. So, despite my thinking of the veggie growing as a bit of a washout this year, it has actually produced more than I first anticipated, just less variety.
To date, this month, I have spent £87.22 on all groceries but this also included bulk buying on some offers when I had the opportunity of getting them. My overall spend for the year so far is £928.97 and my target for this year is £1098, which equates to £1 per person per day for our household of 3 adults. It means I have £169.03 left plus the vouchers I have accumulated.
I'm quite happy at this, although it's impossible to break it down into a monthly amount as it depends entirely on whether or not I manage to get anywhere near a major supermarket. On the plus side, there's an Aldi store being build in the town about 7 miles from here, due open next January, so that could helpI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Here is our meal plan for the month, just in case anyone's interested in taking a look. If anyone's interested in any of the recipes let me know which one(s) and I'll post it too. If anyone has any tips on how we could make better use of leftovers that would be great too! We tend to just bring them for work the next day but it would be nice to turn some of the leftovers into a whole new meal for tea the next day!
Anyhow, I'm off to unpack the groceries. Tesco's just delivered! (No car, it's cheaper to pay the delivery charge than to get a taxi!)Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32
