Hi, newbie here.
I'd like to join for October, grocery spends seem to be going through the roof!
I'll start at £400 for October, if you could add me please MrsM.
We're only 2 adults and 2 teens plus dog & cat, but been spending more than that:eek::o , mainly due to being too busy, and tired (this partly from eating too much junk I suspect).
If I come in under:rolleyes: so much the better.
thanks, pleased to meet you all:j

Hi MrsMc
I would like to declare my grocery spend for September as £92.48 which is
£52.48 over what I had allocated, but I had an opportunity to buy some reduced meat this month and have also stocked up my store cupboard items so am really pleased with that.
It also means that I will hopefully not spend alot of money in October as I have enough supplies for at least two months, so am allocating £30.00 for October, and as I only have myself to feed and am trying to lose weight should be achievable. I am also trying to squirrel away some money for my next trip to New York between xmas and New Year.
Thanx to everyone, I love reading this thread and enjoy all the tips and recipes (and the chats), hope that doesn't change to much.
Cheers
Casper

Hi All
I think I am finally getting my head round this at last. Signing up for the October challenge has really focussed my mind.
Looked in my cupboards and larder last night to find alot of stuff I've been harboring there so I'm 'stocked up'. The problem is I just keep topping it up as if I'm scared rationing is about to begin again! I am resoved to not buy any more until I actually need it.
Found 4 beef olives in freezer together with 2 frying steaks, 1 pork loin steak and some roast beef. Coooking the beef olives in the slow cooker today with some red wine sauce I found in the larder. This will do me and DH for the next two days along with some veg from the freezer.
Spent £25 in Tesco last night so this is my first total for the month. Not sure if I am posting this in the right place. Do I need to wait for a new October Challenge thread to open?
Thanks for all the hints and tips. I love this site. Don't have time to read all the new ones this morning but will come back later to catch up.
Have a good day everyone.

Pay day :j Declaring over again at 271.52
but I have a freezer and cupboards still full. Loads of meat that I don't often have frozen, three joints of lamb and all the chops from the half I got at Chatsworth, (was that really only during this month's GC?) 2 pork rolled leg joints and a 5kg piece of gammon from the Costco offers as well as the usual mince (only lamb ATM) and chicken breasts.
Pay day is early this month, so 5 weeks next month, but have a head start, so I WILL do better!
DH isn't eating his sliced bread since I got my new Kenwood on Saturday to make more bread with, so I have put one a few days old in the freezer, only problem is it is taking up space that I could use better.
PS CasperthefriendlyghostI am also trying to squirrel away some money for my next trip to New York between xmas and New Year
We went for Christmas last year, no dinner to cook, no excess food bought and no presents to buy as that was their present! Would do it again if I could.

Declaring £28.96 for September!
I may need to buy a bottle of milk on Monday but I think I'll just count that towards Octobers budget. I'd like to be put down for £50 in October since it's a 5 week month for me.
Thanks0 -
Can I join in this month please, i'm going to try £350.00 for October for me dh and ds of 20, i know this is a lot compared to some on here but i'm spending way more than that at the moment so it's quite a challenge for me....Be kinder than necessary because we do not know the battles that someone else may face
