poo in pool! swimming nappy question

I am struggling to try to potty train my son, it's just not working. that's a whole other thread, but his being 3 years old and big is relevant to this thread.
Today he did a poo in his swim nappy and it all leaked out of the back, into the pool. The pool had to be closed etc.
Are there any other swim nappies (in large size, he wears size 6 in nappies) that have more leakage protection around the back? He's in huggies at the moment. He doesn't seem to have any awareness of needing to go to the toilet before it happens, so I would like to find a better solution because we like to swim every week but now I can't see us being able to go back for a long time.
not unless i can find some way of containing things if he poos again.
does anybody else make big swim nappies? the ones in home and bargain are too small.

Oh dear. I'm sure you can buy re-usable ones that might come in bigger sizes though I can't think of name at min. Will go off and search.
Have you ever had leaks before with huggies or do you not normally use them. I remember when ds was young at mums and tots having chat with several other mums all saying pampers leaked and they used huggies, I had totally opposite problem but was only one who did- then I looked at the shape of my son compared to theirs and he was a totally different shape and I guess that was why.0 -
How much does he weigh? These weren't the ones I was thinking of but were 1st to come up on a search.

Carmina, this thread might be useful.
We were a stone's throw from getting some disabled nappies for our lad before he had a growth spurt and his shape changed enough to still get into the size 6 ones.
Big kids eh? They keep you on your toes! LOLMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
thanks spendless, but he is HUGE. there were 8 year olds using his swim ring today and they were thinner than him. he weighed 44lbs last time he was weighed, but that was 6 months ago. his bones are made of lead i think, and his has broad shoulders and hips. he's got a 'rugby player' build and is really tall too - bus driver didn't believe he was under 5 last week but he only turned 3 last month.
so the XL one is probably too small. i have bought washables in the past and they were always too tight. he is too chunky for briefs, so he wears boxers instead. his bum and thighs are quite chunky. he is in age 4-5 boxers at the moment, and wears 4-5 trousers and shorts.
i'll have a search on ebay for washables though thanks'bad mothers club' member 13

oooh that looks like it would contain accidents and there's a 44+ size :T
i've been trying to get him trained before nursery next week and had already bought his trunks, assuming that in a week or so he wouldn't need a huggies swim nappy. bah humbug!'bad mothers club' member 13

Hi, i dont know the answer to this one but just wanted to say that this happened to us the other day also. My SIL and her partner took their 3 month old daughter swimming for the first time, along with us and she had a poop also, lucky enough SIL noticed quickly and took her out to get changed. I have heard that the disposable ones are good but expensivexXx0

I hope you are not taking him in the swimming pool that adults use, that is disgusting if you are, it puts me off completely when I see babies with nappies on in the pool, think what diseases people can get from the bacteria in faeces , most places have a children's pool and that is where they should be taken, the water can be changed easier in a small pool also. Why contaminate the large pool and put peoples health at risk0
