Yep I agree. Don't switch it on as this is when the thing will short.
My son's Nokia 7600 went through a full washing cycle.
What I did was open it all up immediately down to the bones (easier to do in some phones than others) Dry everything I could by hand. Then used a hair drier on warm setting but not too close. Put it all back together and left it for a day or so.
It worked fine. At first the sound was a little strange but it eventually sorted itself out. There is 1 line missing on the screen but that doesn't bother him and to be honest it acts as a constant reminder.
This happened about 6 months ago and all is still well with the phone. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

My Mother in Law dropped hers down the loo. She dried it out which took a long while and then it worked again.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I assume you have tried drying it out with Hairdryer.Sometimes works?
I doubt any warranty would cover this. As the damage was inflicted by someone, rather than it just going wrong0 -
Liquid Damaged Phones........
If you send it back as a warranty repair...forget it. All modern phones have a sensor that changes colour when in contact with water / liquid. The phone needs to be stripped and put through an ultrasonic cleaner with a solvent. the phone then needs to be left for 24 hours b4 reassembly. Normally 75% can be resurrected this way.
The exception is washing machine and salt water damaged phones where the ratio of repair to scrap is about 40% successful.
Good luck0 -
Thanks everyone. I have taken it apart and left it to dry. My son is fuming and of course, it is all my fault.0

As drahcir said, the most important thing is to take the battery out while it dries.0

Don't think you can blame yourself. I didn't as I don't leave my phone in a pocket in a laundry basket. But then us mum's tend to get the blame for everything. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

We dried everything and powered it up and it appears to work. We have tried plugging it in and it was charging for a short while, then came up with not charging. Presume that the battery is ruined. Where can we get a battery at a reasonable price - not Ebay.

This happened to my son's battery also. All I can say is just keep trying as my son's eventually sorted itself out.
Not sure where you would get a cheap battery other than ebay. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.
