coolcait...two points, please do not get in a debate with me as it is late etc, but...
If ever a matter like this went to court they would use probabilities, what is the probability of a customer reading the small print etc. I feel very certain having studied this area that a court would find the probability low and therefore intent to defraud would be dismissed
Also if store managers aswell as SA's allow multiple transactions of coupons and multiple mags to be given as they seem totally unaware, how would a customer realistically be expected to be aware?0 -

Um, confused....
You ask me not to get into a debate with you as it is late..
Then you put forward points which are eminently debatable
OK. It is undeniably late. So I shan't get into a debate with you now (as I also have to go to bed). However, there is scope for a debate, so let's just put that off for now.
My opening gambits (at a less late hour) would be:
- 'ignorance is no defence'
- any reader of this thread cannot reasonably claim ignorance of the small print (all attempts at obfuscation on this point notwithstanding).
But, for now, good night!0 -

Meaning...I was simply putting the two points across for you to consider. The boots thread is not the place for debate. I just thought I should point them out as you were posting disagreement to various posters opinons. I was simply putting them across as if you study various cases you will see that the 'probability' scenario puts literally every case to bed.
I read this thread, never read the small print on coupons, so I claim ignorance of the coupons terms as I am truely ignorant of them. Most people take the view of 'if the till, store managers and SA's allow it' then what is wrong.
If practicaly every poster on this thread did not take the above view then this thread would not exist. I know full well from a reputable source that boots are not stupid and infact know full well about this thread and the glitches and it is in fact read DAILY. They could put a stop to various things(the med bag was reprogrammed on the system the night the glitch was read of here for example), but they actually choose not to as they know full well that they are creating complete loyalty to their stores and still make considerable profit from those of us who simply work on the basis of if the till allows it, it must be fine.
Boots profit protection department are fully aware of the TS coupon glitch and have decided not to put on the intranet that boots managers read daily, that the coupon can not be used more than once. They have decided to honour the coupon regardless of the stated terms as they too feel that consumers are not to be realistically expected to read coupons and they do not feel it good customer relations for the coupons to be refused at the point of sale, should the coupons be used out of their terms.0 -

Can I ask : what do other people do, who want to do lots of transactions ? (On the SS tills as well as the manned tills).0 -
Have just woken up after wearing the No7 gloves....OMG everyone should get a pair! My hands are amazing.
Random question although I'm sure it's been asked before and I think I know the answer but just want to double check.....if I buy some No7 stuff with points that totals £20, can I still get the GWP?
TIA xTrying to remain debt free!
Sept GC £24.10/£200
Weekly spend £0/£50
Sealed pot £3.150 -

I just ask "can I put all these through separately?"... with a handful of vouchers and a basket full of stuff! Never had any problems.
..Although yesterday I was getting some photos back (using the free £1.50 from the mag of course!) and put my TD though with it, adding the 200 points first. I then asked for my other TD product to be put through separately and when I handed over the 200 pts voucher she asked where I'd got it from and reminded me that it's one voucher per person. I innocently replied that I thought it was one per transaction, so she said she would do it for me just this once.
So if Boots are cracking down on these supposedly fraudulent gaining of points... why are the SA's still allowing it?
This was in PRESTON BTW.0 -
Again - sorry but...
Why should it be necessary to state that Advantage Card holders only get one free copy of a £1.00 magazine? (If it's not already stated).
Also, some people (like me) forget what magazines they have already got. So why embarrass them at the till? Are people here really saying that they want the till to beep for everyone who genuinely forgets that they've had a free H&B magazine?
The vouchers are clear about the one per person thing. This thread, and its predecessors, has brought it up. MSE Bootsers know about this point. Even I'm aware of it now, and can't truthfully blame amnesia for getting another H&B mag.
Personal responsibility guys. Whether the till beeps or not, we know what the small print says. It's up to us what we do about that.0 -
*Jelly_Tots* wrote: »How could Boots prove that I read this thread ?
Last year I had a problem with Boots SAs taking back my purchases after I left the store for 15 mins and returned to use ACM. I complained to customer services and the manager contacted me, he did apologise and gave me 2000 points. In his reply to me he quoted what I had said on here, word for word. So I know for sure Boots do read this thread. Dont write anything you wouldnt want Boots to read, simple0 -
Apols if this has already been posted...
Went into Boots yesterday with basket full of stuff including the TS offer.. Got to the till and the SA told me could not use the voucher as it is invalid with any other offer (as they are two for £7)
This is where I'm now confusedhow are you supposed to use the voucher then?? you have to buy two things to qualify to use the voucher but as buying two things you take advantage of the offer how can you do it
I'm really sorry if that doesn't make sense as I am totally totally confused!!!!0 -

Yes - you are entitled to the same offers as if you were paying with cash
(except obviously you won't get points and you can't use extra points coupons!)
Just let them put it all through the till, then smile sweetly and say "I'd like to pay with points!" and all the offers will have already been applied0
