well said
i am quite shocked at peoples greed at expecting a sales assistant to accept a 1 pence payment  yes we know thats what the till says, but surely its common sense to hide the glitches,is it not ?
wouldnt it be sad if the sales assistant actually got a warning from her boss for letting this kind of 1p transaction go through the till
dont get me wrong,i like a bargain as much as the next and have myself done very very well out of boots glitchesbut to question a sales assistant when she wont let you pay a penny is pee taking in my eyes.
I know we all have different lines to cross aswell and am not looking for any conflict, but a 1 pence shopping total would ring alarm bells in any shop in any town!!!!!!
I agree, I work in retail and if I ring something up on the till and there's a price error (i.e cheaper) i'd ignore it. However if it was something ridiculous and easily noticeable I would bell for a supervisor, purely because when something similar happened in the shop I work in people got in trouble for not telling the supervisor/manager and they assumed it would be common sense for us to tell them the pricing error.
So if you know it will come down to silly money, hide it!0 -
There are always people who will push things to the extreme and spoil things. I am no :A myself with regards to Boots (and T***o) but I know there are others far worse (?better) than me. I have to say if I do anything a wee bit 'dodgy' I never use my AC (would rather forgoe the points) although obviously with the TD Glitch you need to.
Moral of the story - don't gamble what you can't afford to lose and Be Careful. We all enjoy a freebie but don't spoil it for others or yourselves! Everyone's boundaries are different
Rant Over
I think you're absolutely right Hotpot4. While people take advantage of these offers in moderation, it suits Boots fine as ultimately people are spending money in their stores. I've worked in marketing for a large corporate and do not believe that these offers run concurrently by accident. The big bods at Boots have done the sums and worked out that they are happy to take the losses of a few (thousand) people getting two TS products for a penny (for example) because of the sales that it will drive overall. I have no doubt there is all kinds of economic modelling on what the potential losses are versus the increase in footfall. I think the messages that we get from some over-zealous SAs in store are based on personal opinion a lot of the time!
Having said that, if people do take the offers to the extreme and get 50+ mags on one card then I guess ultimately Boots will make a corporate decision to tone down some of the offers.
Just my tuppeneth worth, I for one hope that they don't crack down too far! Although to be honest I think my stash will see me through to 2010 anyway;) !:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

elisamoose wrote: »but there are two sides involved here..............................Boots staff have allowed this person to buy mags in bulk and to use the vouchers . Even if we are talking 60+ times it would not be cost effective to use lots of different stores (petrol etc) so staff would be aware . I don't do a huge amount of Bootsing but 3 or 4 SA know me .
I'm starting to get recognised on fargate in sheffield by one sa. I have only been to her once before and went to her again and she goes i've served you before but she is really helpful, and nice, i have chatted to her for over 10 minutes before at the till.
The thing is the is another sa there, who actually helps me use my vouchers, she shows me the best deals i get and clearance items. Also, before she has fetched mags for me to use and took out the vouchers as i have been going through.
Sorry its really long0 -
I think this situation is not going to be a wide spread concern.
Yesterday I got nearly 50 mags from the store manager himself. I also used umpteen spits with 200pts back etc.
It seems to me that this particular store has either an over zealous SA or Store manager who is not happy with this one customers use of magazines and till spits and therefore choose to take it upon themselves to act on it.
However, I will carry on getting one mag per transaction and using 200pts on the TD as if the tills allow it it would not stand up in court as what is the probability of an advantage card holder finding the terms and conditions and knowing there were stipulations to it being one per customer.
The only possible thing that could happen to this particular customer is the withdrawal of the earned points and that is only because the terms and conditions of the AC state that points belong to boots and can be withdrawn at any point without a reason being given.
Although should the above happen there is a great possibility that if warned of legal action boots would reinstate them as a court would not expect the t&c's within the mag to be read by even the smallest amount of advantage card holders.
So ladies and gents, I'd just carry on snipping those coupons and earning yourself some lovely points0 -
Thankyou for letting us know hun!
We all know your just trying to help us out
xxxx :A
I agree, it's best to be aware that we should take a little care. Boots may not have a leg to stand on in prosecuting anyone, but it would still be very unpleasant to be threatened with prosecution!0 -
Ha-ha JELLYTOTS - To quote one of your earlier posts:
Oooops!
:rotfl:"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0 -

Thank you Summer angel :A vouchers arrived today
Thank you Broclo for the pm :A
Went into Boots today they had TD wipes and all the cheap <£5 skincare stuff as far as they eye could see (well, on the shelves, anyway!)
Debated about getting anymore JK files to make up a further £5 spend, didn't....
Went to till with my stuff (TD wipes, i-define brush and MY treat for myself, the hair styling thingy which drys and straightens at the same time, was reduced from £24 to £16) and heard the SA's coming out with the biggest fairy story since Enid Blyton first thought of Noddy...
We can't give you any £5 vouchers or skincare vouchers as we have run out of the No 7 and we would be in breach of contract if we only gave you 1 voucher when all our signs say 2 vouchers when you spend £5
What a crock of um, pooh! Bet whoever thought of that one was really chuffed with themselves  Why not just say "we've run out!" No need for spin!
So Colchester is now "dry"
*sniff*
BTW: Elizamoose (think that's your id?) your post title tchum! made me :rotfl: esp when I read the reason for it!0 -
