Hi we purchased a new fridge on line on 17th Sept delivered 19th sept Great
Then we discovered it was broken. After a week of calls to the service department, engineer reports, replacements codes non existent manager who are always in training or meetings we still have a broken fridge with the loss of all our food.
Promoses promises promises are all you get from this lot of money grabbers.
Once this is settled and belive me it had better be soon, then I will be making it known all over the place just how bad their 'service' is.
Now going to Trading Standards to see them and claim our money back on the credit card.
    Buyer BEWARE OF THESE FOOLS:mad:

Yes, I have had a similar experience. This time with a gas cooker. When you have sorted this out, you need to resolve to blacklist Currys. That is - never ever buy anything from them again. In the long term it will mean that you will have peace of mind and a lower blood pressure.

I think I agree that writing to the home address doesn't serve any purpose, but if customer services have been given a chance to resolve a complaint and have failed to do so, then writing via the MD is a legitimate avenue.

Will they deal with it personally? No, but they will send it bouncing down to the upper levels of customer service with a note attached saying "Get this sorted." The fact the MD hates such letters means they don't want the customer writing to them again, so they have an interest in throwing the complaint down with the full weight.

Contact the CEO by email - john.browett@dixons.co.uk

He will then pass the problem on to the head of customer services who will go away and hide for a few days.
  • I bought a laptop from Currys. The emails sent gave correct delivery details and it turned up on the due date without a problem.
My only complaint was that a £50 voucher which should have been generated by the sale didn't happen. I had seen the voucher on a third party website and it turned out their dates were wrong by a couple of days.
I contacted customer services and was called back by them. The person I spoke to promised to investigate and call me back (which he did, and at the time agreed) when he resolved the problem professionally and amicably.
I have no doubt the complaints above are all genuine but you have to speak as you find and in my case I thought Currys were very efficient.
  • I bought a Bosch washer dryer from Currys in Sept. 2010 and have been in dispute with them since. Both Currys and Bosch claim the machine is OK, yet it's noisy, damages clothes (pulls threads etc.) and doesn't even get things clean!
    Anybody else had similar?

For general information, the new CEO is Sebastian James, email: Sebastian.James@dixons.co.uk

I bought a Panasonic Sound Bar system at a cost of £590, plus a Panasonic Smart TV 4k 3D Blue Ray Player for £100 online from Currys. Started to have intermittent faults within days with non-switching of DVD player, plus a BT Youview box, through soundbar /HDMI 2 ARC to Panasonic TV. Then two weeks ago, 6 weeks after purchase switching ceased completely, with the auxiliary units only working via direct HDMI 1 link to TV.

Today, after much self diagnosis trying hard to resolve issue, rang Currys Customer Service Department. After waiting some time for a operator to be available explained my problem. They offered to REPAIR the sound bar. I refused, stating it was obviously not Fit for Purpose and was not of reasonable quality, requesting a new replacement sound bar only after spending a significant amount of money for a quality system. This apparently could not be authorised online, but I was told my local store would deal with the issue after the operator "Shane" had sent the details to the store; they would ring back within two hours. They have failed to do so.

After 4 hours rung Currys Customer Service again, explained the failed contact, but the operator simply said they could only repair the product, but I needed to go to the store, but only a repair would be offered. I outlined my sincere dissatisfaction with Currys (not the first time on the issue of Customer Service or lack of it) and how I did not suffer this type of problem when spending with Argos and the new ao.com. I explained this product was not fit for purpose under the Sale of Goods Act / Trade Descriptions Act, and Currys should be doing more for me; I stated after this I would never use PC World/Currys again, and nor would my friends who generally buy without issue from Argos, with me spending thousands with the latter. The Currys operator could not have cared less!

This all made no difference, and before I rang off I stated clearly I would now go to my local store, with me being inconvenienced, to seek a refund for the whole system due to their failure to simply resolve my issue. What a shower this company is, and painfully I remember, as a senior retail professional of almost 40 years, that my company's customers used to complain dreadfully about this company failing to meet their expectations.

Given your and others previous experiences with Currys why do you continue to shop there? Expectations are not the law and legally they are allowed to examine it and repair it.
