How to view a house?

I've seen a house online I'm interested in viewing. But the estate agents will only show me around between 9:30 and 4:30 on weekdays!
Whilst I'm happy that this particular estate agent is doing well enough to warrant them not being more accommodating in their viewing times, how are people with full time jobs supposed to look at the house?

How to view a house?
Pick up the broschure.
Point at the price.
Laugh really loud for at least 30 seconds.
Hand it back to the estate agent.
Walk out while muttering "these guys must be on f*****g drugs or something!"Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -

EA's have to be accommodating.
However you need to realise some viewers can be a blo-ody nuisence. Set up loads of viewings, over a few days, our making dozens of calls and then the viewer calls to say: -
"Sorry changed our minds"!
Some don't show.
Some turn up late and I mean late - do they expect someone to wait at their convenience.
Some arrive with multiple members of their family and the record we have is about ten plus dog where seller point blank refused to allow them all in.
Etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
So there is always the EA's point of view not just an awkward EA perhaps?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
Chickmug - these have all happened to me over the years, moreorless, as a vendor.
Cupid - did EA mean that viewing out of these times was unacccompanied, as I noticed some years ago when trying to sell, EA who had said "all viewings accompanied" only actually accompanied prospective purchasers weekdays approx 9 - 5If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Drop a note throuh the house door asking for a viewing given you work (does this mean they never sell houses to teachers?) saying the estate agent couldn't accommodate you so were hopin they could - I'm sure they want to sell their house and will persuade the agent or do it themselves - plus it'll make the EA look bad in his clients eyes....

Are you talking to me?
I am not paid to try and help out on the forum but am doing so to try and give back to those who have been, and are being, sh-it on by dodgy EA's. So give me a break!
Your apology will be accepted.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
Because the EA is doing it now the owner?
One of our local ones was very slack in sorting out a viewing - 10 days - as their chap is only part-time. They knew though that the owner wasn't going to take a drop in price and so felt it was a timewaster to show people round.0 -

Wasn't aimed at you personally, just EAs in general.
Was actually more trying to make a valid point than rant.
A house is the most expensive think most people will ever buy, yet the way they, as buyers are treated by EAs, the salesman, is unbelievable.
If I was going to buy a car, and the salesman said "You can only view it 9-5 Monday to Friday" I'de go see his boss who would sack him on the spot, and cars cost 10% of what a house costs.
For some reason the way house buyers are treated is seen as normal and acceptable.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0
