How to view a house?

Wasn't aimed at you personally, just EAs in general.
Was actually more trying to make a valid point than rant.
A house is the most expensive think most people will ever buy, yet the way they, as buyers are treated by EAs, the salesman, is unbelievable.
If I was going to buy a car, and the salesman said "You can only view it 9-5 Monday to Friday" I'de go see his boss who would sack him on the spot, and cars cost 10% of what a house costs.
For some reason the way house buyers are treated is seen as normal and acceptable.
I don't disagree with you although we each have differing ways of expressing our points of view. As I said I give my time to help those, on the forum, who are being badly treated and if I can help them shaft their EA. Thta is providing I feel that EA has been an AH.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. Many thanks, please except my appology and screw over as many EAs as possible.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
It could be that the Seller only wants viewings whilst they're out at work - not unusual, if they have busy weekends.
Can you not take half a day off work?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Where I live in the East Midlands, the only time an EA shows the property is when it is empty.0

The seller wants the buyers money, thus the seller has to make themselves available when the buyer wants them to.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
Hi
Yes, a house is the most expensive thing most of us will ever buy, and yet good manners cost NOTHING.
Nobody is excluded from that saying, not buyers ,vendors or EAs, nobody.

I happen to agree with squatnow. We are in the position that we can easily afford this house, but we have no need to move at the moment - we'd just like somewhere slightly larger. I'm quite happy to get into work early so I can leave at 4 to view at 5 which is only half an hour after they normally do viewings until anyway, but even that's not good enough. If they wont be accommodating at all, why should I use a half-day holiday to view a house? Plus, unfortunately I have no holiday entitlement left at all this year anyway.
I was going to drop by one evening and knock on the door, and say the estate agents can't give me a suitable viewing time can they show me around etc. But it's 2 buses away from my house and I was worried no-one would be in and I'd have a wasted journey. So the idea of dropping a note through the door is a good one.
And if/when we come to sell our house I certainly wont be using that estate agents!0 -

And this is one of the reasons why I love this forum

''If they wont be accommodating at all, why should I use a half-day holiday to view a house?''
Am i the only one that is struggling to see this point of view?... The seller may be in no rush to sell, after all, it is YOU that wants to buy the house?
I understand that a lot of money is involved, but you wouldnt expect Currys or Comet to stay open til midnight if you wanted to buy a TV? Or the local Audi dealer for a new car?If those times arent convenient, and you want the house that badly, then you should make it convenient. I think it should work both ways, but like i said... the seller may not want to sell that badly (for instance, he could be divorcing and has to be shown that he is attempting to sell the house... and a number of other reasons)Getting Married Sat Aug 22nd 2009...... so excited!!
