NTL BROADBAND SPEED INCREASE
Comments

Cheek of it, charge your userbase £25 to benefit higher speeds? Telewest arent charging , so my 3meg will become 4meg and 384k up :O0

NTL are going to start capping downloads when the new speed comes in...so watch out.
They will not charge you any more for the new speed, you will just have to pay more if you download a lot.0 -
Yes reclive is right... there will be more stringent capping of bandwidth usage...roughly equvilent to 1GB of data a day..
Theres more info here - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/03/ntl_q3_04/
And on the NTL forum... http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=193350 -

I hope not, that would make the increase in speed a joke.0 -
But then again, it would be silly to pay for the upgrade if there isn't really a need for the increase......
When will one of these companies be brave enough to increase the "upload" limit? ;D That in my opinion would be more useful & certainly something I would pay for.... :D
Actually I have just run a speed test using adslguide & I am actually shocked by the results.......
I am not suprised I mention the upload speed NTL have a meagre 128kbps upload limit compared to regular BB suppliers of 256kbps. Grrrr not a happy bunny!!

The last time I did a BB speed test of my NTL cable line, 1.5mb @18.99 p/m btw it was the 3rd fastest of all the other people who had cable also and obviously hard performed the same test...!
I was mighty impressed. My NTL cable line service is fine...
I do happen to use a hardware firewall, and have an external cable modem supplied by NTL rather than have it hanging of the cable box itself. Not sure what kind of impact this may or may not have. But it works a dream for me.
Additionally...my 2 pennies worth on the upgrade is that so what if is capped....?? 40GB for me is a serious amount of data per month....thats more than a Gig a day!! If I can continue to pay £18.99 for a 3mb service that is capped at 40GB monthly....you would not see me complain!!
Anyone downloading more than 40GB is probably pulling films and music files anyway which just sucks to an extent anyway......bordering on thieving punk IMHO!!
Upload speed increase would be a little nicer to have.....but then the UK's current best 8mb adsl only has 400 upload too....so its just twaddle really in the UK!!
Go abroad and you can enjoy 15mb download!! !
Ho-hum....Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0 -
Does any one heard anything about the upload speeds increasing ?? maybe NTL are going to be nice to their customers

I would like the new increase - but as I pay over £70 a month to them already - I will call them up and ask the to waive the £25 admin fee....
Otherwise, I may just take my business elsewhere.......If the world is a stage... I want better lighting!0
