NTL BROADBAND SPEED INCREASE

I rang NTL the other day and they informed me that they will be upgrading all broadband services in mid to late January. There will be no price increase (yet) only speed:

300k upgrading to 1mb
600k upgrading to 2mb
1mb upgrading to 3mb

You can pay an administration charge of £25 to receive early Jan(?) why?.. otherwise you will have to wait a couple more weeks (wow)

Hope this information is of use to someone.

That seems a large jump in speed for no extra cost. I'm not with NTL as cant get cable where i live but know a friend who has it. He was on the 1mb service and as far as i know he was upgraded to 1.5mb not long ago ???
    Errrr...come back later ;)

Wesker - you are quite right, NTL upgraded all services around June/July this year, but they are doing it again.

This article mentions the £25.00 "upgrade fee" but doesn't say it is only for early birds.
How do I add a signature?
  • not heard that before..im with ntl...would be good if it was true.....however they have recently upgraded all services at no cost

    150K now 300Kbps
    600K now 750Kbps
    1mb now 1.5mbps

i know they have been sepnding alot of time lately upgrading, so who knows.

yes, I thought the £25 fee was for existing customers regardless of when they take up the offer. At least that's what NTL told me last week.
  • I think it would be a bit daft to miss out on the upgrade due to not willing to pay the £25.

But then again, it would be silly to pay for the upgrade if there isn't really a need for the increase......

When will one of these companies be brave enough to increase the "upload" limit? ;D That in my opinion would be more useful & certainly something I would pay for.... :D
  • if its true why do exisiting customers have to cough up.....hmmm tricky one for as if i threatened to cancel i would have to pay 25 a month....whereas i have paid 12.49 for the 750K service since i joined over 2 years ago.

How did you get such a low price? I joined 4 or 5 years ago when you were allowed to provide your own cable modem. As a result I pay £19.99, rather than £25 a month. But £12.49 is incredible.

Sorry for confusion, The £25 charge (I am led to believe) will only be for those customers who want to receive early Jan rather than waiting...

That was the information I was given from NTL but NTL being as reputable as they are (ha ha) things may change... ;D
