I am a bit confused about the 16-24 railcard and i need clarification.
I travel Monday-Wednesday at 8am and 5pm/1pm depending on the day. I had a shock last week when I got charged £12.40 for a day return (!!!!!). (The reason I've not got the card was because I was getting it at the weekend and was oblivious to this 'before 9:30 charge'
)
Anyway, looking on the site I got this:1. Can I use my Railcard at any time of day?
Yes you can, however for all journeys made at or before 10am, Monday to Friday (excluding at weekends, Public Holidays, or during July and August), a minimum fare applies. If you travel regularly before 10am, then a weekly or monthly season ticket may be more appropriate a Railcard discount will not apply). Here is some more information about minimum fares
Following that link it says the minimum fair is £8. Do i calculate the 1/3 off from £12.40 or £8?0 -
According to nationalrail.co.uk, the cost for a return with a railcard is £8.0
