I think they do have. Aylesbury>>high wycombe but i'm not sure. Once I get into college as a student and not as a "nearly there" then i'll scoot around looking.
That cost is outrageous punkrockprincess! Its great you've got a grant. I am still looking for a job even while i'm at college for the weekends because though the YP travel card will sort me out nearly....i still have to buy other things !0 -
I wouldn't recommend getting a bus from Wyc --> Amersham - that would be crazy and even more expensive (it costs me £2 to get into town, which is 10min!!)
The train would still be the safer option. Although, you may find someone in your class who is also coming from Aylesbury and you can get a lift and pay him some money towards petrol.
Are you entitled to EMA?
Also there should be a Dominos Pizza nearby in Aylesbury, the High Wycombe store is looking for people cause there are workers (inc myself) who are going back to uni so are running low on people, you could try that for a job.0 -
yeah i get £20 EMA
I've applied for Homebase. I sent in my CV. They have weekends vacancies so i've grabbed that chance. I hope they contact me...
there may be but i'm only 16 so it'll be hard at the very start. But you never know so if i see them...i'll make friends hehe.
Ahh yeah! Of course i forgot people at uni are going back! :rotfl:Well whatever i get or do i'll just keep lookign everywhere. If I hate the job i'll have to lump it. Spent too long looking for one to let it go.
The buses from Aylesbury>>AY towncentre are £2 return as well. Its crazy!0 -
It is worth asking at college if you can get any assistance with travel costs. Our local college give travel assistance in certain cases.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

yes thats on my list. It has been for a while but if they don't (which i'll find it hard to believe they don't) then at least i've got the YP travel card and EMA to keep me a- float, thoguh not entirely happy

(thanks to everyone in this thread, i've thanked you all)

I have the same problem!
My travel for when i start college in September will be around £50! its so much! I have no income at the moment, I have a lil savings but I can't do it for a whole year, I'm hoping the college will give me some help and I get a P/T Job!

I don't think you get EMA for the first (incomplete) week-I'm pretty sure my daughter didn't last year but will ask her when she comes down.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

It might be worth checking your college for a careers centre or similar, they may well have jobs that suit students (weekends, evenings, work on campus, etc). I'm at uni, which is slightly different on that front, but the campus bar and shops all employ students.0

If you get a YP railcard (£24 for a year) the tickets are £5.30 for a cheap day return. So £26.50 a week
Depends on when you need to be in by. On some routes YP discount doesn't kick in until 9.30am, so if you need to start your journey before that, you're screwed... It's the same for getting a cheap day return too (*hates 7.30am surgical ward rounds*)April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200
