Thanks for all the replies - I've calmed down a bit now!

Unfortunately I don't have any insurance

I've just phoned the Asda Mobile helpline and the lady has given me a ref # and I've got to return the phone instore (with the receipt, which I kept :T). Fingers crossed they'll exchange it.

My son is a total lazy couch potato and he's definitely not dropped the phone so perhaps it is a fault with the phone after all?

oh hope you can get a new one Kisto, it does look like its a common fault with that phone then reading that thread you put a link to so hopefully you can get a replacement easy enough as they must be aware of this design flaw. Kick up enough fuss and it usually results in a desirable outcome in my experience !!!!

My DS phone is actually the J600 which is mentioned towards the end of the thread. Other posters have confirmed that their lcd screens (on Samsungs) have just developed a crack for no obvious reason (which would back up what my ds is saying about not knowing how it happened). With that in mind I'll quite happily kick up a fuss!
